Mexico

Mexico’s perfect for a wedding at any time of year, all thanks to its toasty temperatures. Dreaming of a sunny winter wedding? Mexico’s got you covered. Unlike some destinations where weddings are symbolic, in Mexico you can tie the knot legally, which means you won’t need to get married in the UK to make it official. There are plenty of hotels to choose from for a same-sex wedding here, including the Riu Cancun which hosts weddings on a white-sand beach. It’s a great option if you, your partner and your wedding guests love to party – you’re only a 15-minute walk from the Hotel Zone, home to Cancun’s liveliest bars, clubs and restaurants. Down the coast in Riviera Maya, you can choose from seafront wedding venues or gazebos at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya. All rooms have got spa tubs and a minibar, so it’s easy to make sure you're relaxed before your big day. Plus, the hotel comes with adults-only areas – including a separate beach – perfect if you’ve not got any little ones in your wedding party.

Ibiza

For a destination wedding a bit closer to home, the Balearic Island of Ibiza is a great option. Weddings here are symbolic, which means you can have all the glitz and glamour of a big day, but you’ll need to tie the knot back in the UK if you’d like to be legally married. Just so you know, this is the same rule for opposite-sex and same-sex couples. The Holiday Village Seaview Ibiza is a popular choice for weddings with kids in tow. It’s all thanks to its family-friendly facilities, which include an Aerial Adventure course, a kids’ club and a waterpark that comes with a pirate-themed splash zone. Get married here and you’ll tie the knot on a pretty terrace with sea views.

Greece

This Mediterranean hotspot is a dream wedding destination for couples who enjoy getting out to see the sights. Choose Corfu, for example, and you can head out on a cute stroll around the countryside together after your dream day, or wander around Corfu Town’s cobblestone streets hand in hand. Zante‘s another great pick where you can both unwind after your celebrations on one of the island’s soft sandy beaches. Wed at the TUI BLUE Sensatori Atlantica Caldera Palace in Crete and you can exchange your vows outside a chapel, before having your photographs on the beach. And, if you want to treat yourself, upgrade to a swim-up room or a private pool suite – go on, it’s your wedding after all. Or, choose the TUI BLUE Sensatori Atlantica Dreams in Rhodes where there are a selection of venues to choose from, including on the beach, or beside the ancient Greek ruins in the hotel’s grounds.

Cyprus

Cyprus has long been a favourite for a destination wedding, and with a series of Blue Flag beaches and cute town halls to its name, it’s pretty easy to see why. Cyprus also offers legal weddings for same-sex couples, so you can tie the knot officially while you're away. When it comes to choosing where to get wed, the TUI BLUE Sensatori Aphrodite Hills should be on your radar. Nine restaurants are on hand for meals before and after your big day, plus cooking classes make for a perfect pre-wedding activity for you and your guests. And, when it comes to your big day, you get the choice of the onsite chapel or a gazebo with hillside views for your venue. Plus, this hotel only offers one wedding per day, so your big day will be exclusive to you. The Atlantica Mare Village Paphos is another hotel to have on your radar, where you can tie the knot in the pretty gardens. There’s only one wedding per day here, too. It’s a top pick for families, thanks to its line-up of kids’ clubs and family-friendly activities.

Croatia

Weddings in Croatia take place in town halls, so it’s a great pick for an LGBTQ+ wedding with a traditional feel. Plus, you can opt for a legal wedding to tie the knot officially while you’re away. You can choose from any of our hotels in the Istrian Riviera if you’re getting married here, but it’s worth noting the town halls are in Porec, Pula and Rovinj, so make sure you and your wedding guests don’t have too far to travel on the big day. Pula Town Hall is a 9th-century venue that blends Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles, and once you’ve said “I do” you can head to the town’s main square for your wedding photos. You can have your snaps outside the UNESCO-ticked Euphrasian Basilica after your wedding at Porec Town Hall, while in Rovinj you can opt for snaps beside the harbour.

Dominican Republic

Soft sand. Tick. Blue waters. Tick. Plenty of sunshine. Tick. The Dominican Republic is a perfect fit for the Caribbean beach wedding you’ve both been dreaming about. Weddings here are symbolic, which means if you’d like to be legally married you’ll need to do this back in the UK. When it comes to choosing where to tie the knot, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana is well worth a look – it’s home to a bumper collection of bars – 23 to be exact – as well as 10 restaurants. You’ve got three options here when it comes to your wedding venue – choose from the beach, a scenic terrace or in the gardens. Or, take a look at the Hideaway at Royalton Punta Cana – the adults-only section of the Royalton Punta Cana. It’s got a slot right on Bavaro Beach, and you can opt to get married on the white sand, or go for a spot in the garden or the hotel plaza. Plus, its pool tags on a bar that offers waiter service. Cocktails delivered directly to your lounger? Yes, please!
