Where we sail in Germany
With the Rhine, Main, Moselle and Danube all flowing through it, Germany’s the first name in river cruising. This country’s got the lottery on landscapes – think alpine peaks, vineyard-filled valleys and forested mountains. As such, our Germany river cruises are as varied as its 16 states. Many start in Frankfurt, which fuses a reconstructed old town with futuristic skyscrapers. From here, you can follow the Main River until it joins the Rhine. This is where you’ll find the cities of Mannheim and Speyer, which are full of Baroque palaces and churches. From wine to the Main
Further north, cruises through the UNESCO-listed Rhine Valley land you in the heart of Germany’s wine country. And the architecture’s just as pretty – towns like Boppard and Rudesheim are all timber-framed buildings and fairy tale castles. Trace the Rhine north until it splits off into the Moselle River. The towns here give the Rhine’s a run for their money in the scenic stakes. They’re backed by steep vineyards, producing stellar Rieslings. Then there the grand old dame cities along the Main, like Bamberg and Wurzburg.Top Germany river cruise itineraries

Port of call in Germany
Wurzburg
Grand architecture’s the main attraction in Wurzburg, which has a foot planted either side of the Main River. The main port’s on the outskirts, but a short taxi ride gets you among the Baroque buildings in the centre. Fortress Marienberg is perched on a hill overlooking the terracotta rooftops, and a statue-lined Medieval bridge leads to the Romanesque cathedral.
