When Billy Idol sang about it being a nice day for a white wedding, he may as well have been talking about Ibiza. Blanched sands and sugar cube villages have given this bohemian island its ‘White Isle’ nickname, and weddings tend to follow the same virgin colour scheme.
Beach blessings
Blessings usually take place by the beach, in the early evening, when temperatures turn from hot to balmy. If you’re planning a close-knit ceremony, Cala Carbo would suit you. It’s a snug sandy cove that’s screened from the rest of the world by rocky headland. If you’ve got a lot of guests, Cala Tarida would be a better fit. It’s the longest ribbon of sand on the west coast and its water is a blazing blue.
The wedding party
As far as post-nuptial festivities go, you’re in safe hands with Ibiza. Celebrations are part of the fabric of this island. For an effortless wedding reception, have a beach party with a barbecue. Or pile into an authentic restaurant where your guests can share table-loads of tapas and sangria. Alternatively, hit Ibiza’s legendary clubs and stay up to see the sunrise on your first day of married life.
