Best destinations for LGBTQ+ Pride in 2025

From Gran Canaria to New York, uncover the best places to celebrate Pride in 2025.
Madrid, Berlin and the Big Apple are all top picks for Pride Celebrations in 2025. But, before we spill all the tea on all the best places to go, let’s roll back the clocks a little. What is Pride? It’s all about people coming together to show support for LGBTQ+ communities, to celebrate how far LGBTQ+ rights have come, and to continue raising awareness. Pride has its roots in New York in June 1969 with the Stonewall riots – the beginning of the modern Gay Rights movement. Now, Pride parades are held all over the world, so it’s a great excuse for a holiday. Here’s our pick of the best destinations to head to…

Once you’re ready, check out our best holiday deals.

Gran Canaria, Spain

Gran Canaria’s Maspalomas hosts one of the largest Pride parades in Europe – celebrations here last for a whopping 10 days. You’ve got pool parties, boat trips and free live shows. The Pride Walk usually takes place on the last weekend of the celebrations, kicking off in Maspalomas and finishing up at the Yumbo Center in Playa del Ingles. Never heard of it? You’re missing out. It’s filled with gay-friendly bars, with free drag shows taking to the stage every night. It’s the same story during winter Pride, too. Yep, Gran Canaria does the double with a second Pride event in mid-November. If the celebrations get a little too heavy, take a breather with a visit to Puerto Mogan – it’s only around a 30-minute drive away and it’s known as Little Venice thanks to its canals, criss-crossing bridges and narrow paths lined with bougainvillea.

Barcelona, Spain

Spain’s no stranger to a Pride celebration, but the one in Barcelona is one of its biggest. The main event takes place across one weekend in July and the programme’s filled with live music, workshops and exhibitions that shine on a spotlight on Spain’s LGBTQ+ culture and history. The celebrations start way before all that, though – Pride events are on the calendar from the end of June, including nights out headlined by international DJs. There’s loads to do when you’re not partying Pride-style, from tucking in to tasty tapas on the seafront to spotting some of Gaudi’s best work. Prefer a beach day? La Barceloneta Beach is the place to go – it's less than a 20-minute stroll from the centre of the city.

New York, USA

As the original home of Gay Pride, celebrations in The Big Apple are some of the best in the world. The city’s Pride Parade is the world’s biggest, with more than one hundred floats passing by the original site of the Stonewall riots. Once it’s passed through Fifth Avenue, the parade finishes in Greenwich Village where street-food stalls line the sidewalks and live musicians and singers take to the stage. You might even spot a famous face or two from Broadway if you’re lucky. It probably goes without saying, but there are plenty of things to do once the celebrations are over – a stroll around Central Park and a boat ride to see Lady Liberty from the water have to be on the agenda if you ask us.

Madrid, Spain

Pride celebrations in Madrid centre around the Chueca neighbourhood, in the heart of the city. You can expect a fiesta feeling with live music across the city, as well as the iconic High-Heels Race – a mad dash down Pelayo Street where participants wear heels that’re at least 10cm high. Rather them than us, eh? As well as the celebrations in the centre, there are stages hosting drag performers and live singers across the city, including in Plaza de Espana at the end of Gran Via – the main road that cuts through the city. For some downtime, head to Retiro Park where you can soak up the sun in the pretty gardens or rent a rowing boat and take a trip across a lake.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

The Canal Parade is the highlight of the Pride celebrations in Amsterdam when brightly coloured boats follow the waterways around the city centre, filled with partygoers. Street parties take place over the entire weekend, with drag acts and international DJs featured in this year’s line-up. Give yourself a couple of days to explore after the celebrations and you can tick off a visit to the Van Gogh Museum and Anne Frank House. Top tip: check out the neighbourhoods of Zeedijk and Warmoesstraat when you’re looking for somewhere to stay – they’re both within a 15-minute walk of the city’s best LGBTQ+ friendly bars and clubs.

San Francisco, USA

Our second USA entry takes us to San Francisco, where Pride celebrations fill an entire month. Not sure you’ve got a month’s worth of partying in the tank? No problem – the main celebration takes place over the last weekend, and it’s headlined by a huge Pride Parade on Sunday. The city’s civic centre is the hub for Pride this year, and there’s everything from fashion shows to an opera concert on the line-up. That’s not all, though – San Francisco Pride also hosts one of the world’s largest trans parades, with thousands of trans people and allies set to parade around Dolores Park on the last Friday of the event.

Washington D.C, USA

Sticking with the states, America’s capital’s next on our list. And it’s with good reason. Washington DC is the host of WorldPride this year – an annual event that takes place in a different country each year. It means the city’s celebrations are set to be stepped up a notch or two this year, with a cast of drag artists from Ru Paul’s Drag Race, a boat parade and a film festival celebrating LGBTQ+ cinema part of the programme. The main parade – on June 7th – finishes up on Pennsylvania Avenue – the corridor between the U.S. Capitol and the White House. Pretty iconic, don’t you think!?

Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon is lining up one of the biggest events on Europe’s Pride calendar in 2025. They’re this year’s hosts of EuroPride – a European Pride event that takes place in a different city each year. Everything will be centred around a stage in Praca do Comercio – one of the city’s main squares – where international singers, DJs and drag performers will complete the line-up. When you’re ready to press pause on the party, take tram 28 through the city to uncover the capital’s best bits – its route passes through the city’s best neighbourhoods, including Alfama where you can tick off a visit to Sao Jorge Castle for a panoramic shot of the city. The tram can get busy, so head out first thing to catch it before the crowds arrive.

Berlin, Germany

Pride is known as Christopher Street Day in Germany’s capital. It’s named after the first known uprising by LGBTQ+ people against police brutality in New York’s Christopher Street, AKA the Stonewall riots. Berlin’s Pride parade stomps through the centre of the city, passing by queer landmarks like Nollendorfplatz which has played host to the city’s gay community for more than 100 years. Street parties and pop-up events come after, with art exhibitions, drag performances and DJ sets on the agenda.
