The Entry Exit System (EES)
Updated: Tuesday 24 September 2024 | 16:00
From November 2024, the EU plans to introduce the Entry/Exit system (EES). The exact date that EES will be introduced has not been confirmed. When the EES is operational it’s planned that all entry and exit movements will be registered electronically.
Before you travel, there’s nothing different you need to do, the Advanced Passenger Information (API) form you already complete will be used by the airline to send your details. If you choose to check-in at the airport your information will be sent to the EU during the check-in process.
Upon arrival at your destination, the first time you use it might take a bit longer than usual to pass through border control as your biometric data (face image and four fingerprints) will be collected. Children under 12 years old will not have their fingerprints collected.
On the day of travel, in case there are any delays, you may wish to take along extra water to make your airport journey more comfortable.
You can find out more by visiting EU EES website and https://www.gov.uk/guidance/eu-entryexit-system.

Travelling from Manchester Airport
Updated: Wednesday 10th July 2024 | 01:18
The airport’s getting a facelift, to the tune of £1.3 billion which, once completed in 2025, will provide lots more facilities including a high street-style shopping area, a Champagne bar and a food hall. It’s safe to say, we’re pretty excited for what’s to come.
While the refurb’s going on, our check-in area may look a little different than normal. But don’t worry, our team are on hand to make sure your experience is a smooth one. As always, it’s a good idea to arrive at the airport with sufficient time before your flight. Our check-in desks open three hours before departure for flights to Europe and Africa, and four hours for long-haul flights giving you plenty of time to check in your luggage and make your way through security. Arriving any earlier than this won’t mean you can check in or pass through security early.
On that note, don’t forget that if your flight takes off before noon, you can drop your bags between 2pm and 9pm using our day-before bag drop, making your departure day easier – click here for more details. You can do this for all flights except those going to the USA. And, just so you know, if you’re driving to the airport to drop your bags, you can use the T2 West Multi Storey Car Park for up to an hour, free of charge – you’ll collect a token as you enter the car park and you’ll need to validate it before leaving the terminal - our TUI airport team will show you where to do this.
Rest assured, our team will be on hand to provide help and support wherever needed. Together with Manchester Airport, we’re doing our best to make sure the facelift has the littlest effect as you pass through the airport. At the same time, we’re excited to be working behind the scenes to improve your future experience.
Travelling from Birmingham Airport
Updated: Wednesday 10th July 2024 | 01:18
Birmingham Airport is getting a face lift, with a new £50 million security area being built to improve the airport experience.
We’d like to remind you to arrive at the airport with sufficient time before your flight. At the moment, we’re recommending giving yourself three hours for flights to Europe and Africa, and four hours for long-haul flights. That way, you’ll have plenty of time to check in your luggage and make your way through the security queues. Arriving any earlier than this won’t mean you can check in or pass through security early.
On that note, don’t forget that if your flight takes off before noon, you can drop your bags between 2pm and 9pm using our day-before bag drop, making your departure day easier click here for more details.. You can do this for all flights except those to the USA. And, just so you know, if you’re driving to the airport to drop your bags, you can use the Premium Set Down Car Park for up to an hour, for the special price of just £4 – just let the customer service booth know you’ve used the bag drop as you exit the car park.
You can enter the terminal using the main doors in zones B, C and D to reach our check-in desks which are on the ground floor. You’ll find these entrances by passing through the covered walkways that’re in place at the front of the terminal.
If you plan on arriving by monorail, it stops at the airport right where you need to check in with us.
Rest assured, our team will be on hand to provide help and support wherever needed. Together with Birmingham Airport, we’re doing our best to make sure the facelift has the littlest effect as you pass through the airport. At the same time, we’re excited to be working behind the scenes to improve your future experience.
