The sub-continent
A mere mention of India is enough to conjure up a hint of spice, a flash of colour, and a whiff of excitement. Make no mistake about it – this place doesn’t so much as stir the senses as launch an all-out assault on them.
Goa
Goa is the name on most holidaymakers’ lips. This region of Indian is tucked into a tiny pocket of land on the country’s west coast. As far as scenery goes, it’s starry-eyed territory. Take the beaches, for starters – think soft sands, palm-thatched bars and nodding coconut groves. Head inland, meanwhile, and it’s all hidden temples and foaming waterfalls.
North and South
Goa is split into two distinct regions. North Goa is big on culture and is home to lively beach resorts like Candolim and Baga. South Goa, meanwhile, has a sleepier feel. In places like Arrosim and Cavelossim, the scene is one of luxury hotels, white sand, turquoise waters – and not much else.
