TUI Airways

TUI Airways is the world’s largest charter airline, and was founded in 1962. We operate from 17 bases across the UK and Ireland, flying to more than 100 destinations worldwide, from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean. TUI UK has a fleet of 60, made up of four different models of aircraft. Our planes are configured with either two cabins – premium economy class and economy class – or just a single economy class cabin. On some flights, you can opt for seats with extra legroom or extra space.

The Dreamliner experience

Bigger windows

The windows on a 787 Dreamliner are 30% bigger than those on your average plane. What’s more, when you’re ready to sleep, you can dim your window at the touch of a button.

Room overhead

The Dreamliner’s cabin is over six feet high at its lowest point, so there’s a real sense of space onboard.

More oxygen

You’ll disembark feeling fresher when you fly on the Dreamliner. This is because its cabin pressure allows more oxygen to be absorbed into your blood.

HEPA filters

HEPA filters remove 99.97% of viruses, germs and allergens, keeping the cabin air clean and fresh throughout your flight.

Mood lighting

A smart mood lighting system mimics things like dawn and dusk, helping you sleep more easily and minimising your chances of feeling jetlagged.

Peace and quiet

Our Dreamliners generate 60% less noise than standard planes during take-off and landing. It’s quieter in the air, too, so you’ll find it easier to relax.

Quality entertainment

For flights over 7 hours, each Dreamliner is fitted with state-of-the-art seatback TVs, which are loaded with everything from TV shows and Hollywood films to games and music.

Accessibility

Like all our aircraft, our Dreamliners have wheelchairs onboard to help you move between your seat and the toilets. Every Dreamliner features an accessible toilet with more space and grab handles, too. See our Assisted Travel FAQs for more information.

Technical features

Composite material

The Dreamliner is made with composite material, making it stronger, lighter and more aerodynamic.

Ultra-fast

The aircraft can reach speeds of Mach 0.85, which is roughly equivalent to 640 miles per hour.

Powerful engines

The power generated by each of the Dreamliner’s engines is enough to power 1,500 cars at the same time.

More fuel-efficient

Thanks to its composite structure and revolutionary engines, the Dreamliner is more fuel-efficient and emits less CO2 than your average aircraft.

Wider and longer reach

The Dreamliner can fly around 8,000 miles without stopping, which means it can take you directly to destinations that other planes can’t reach.

Boeing 737 MAX 8

Boeing 737 MAX 8

The Boeing 737 MAX 8 took to the skies again in summer 2021 following international re-certification. TUI Airways’ fleet features 21 of these aircrafts, flying out of several UK airports to short-haul and mid-haul destinations in Europe and beyond.

A modern flying experience

The 737 MAX is the latest version of the Boeing 737, which is one of the world’s most popular aircraft. It delivers a top-notch experience – the cabin includes USB outlets at every seat, more space for passengers and crew, and unique overhead storage bins that provide more room than the usual overhead lockers.

A quieter flight

Even at a speed of Mach 0.79 – the equivalent of 521 miles per hour – the 737 MAX is quieter than your average aircraft. It’s all thanks to work that’s been done to reduce noise pollution.

Sustainability

The Boeing 737 MAX uses 16% less fuel and can travel 19% further than the aircraft it replaced in our fleet. This goes a long way towards helping us do our part when it comes to looking after our planet.
