Health information

Visit www.travelhealthpro.org.uk for current travel health news.

Before you depart:

  • At the time of booking, get comprehensive travel insurance that covers all your planned activities.

Check your health coverage

If you’re travelling to the EU:

  • Apply for a UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) at www.nhs.uk/ehic.

  • Continue using your existing European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) until its expiry date.

  • Remember, EHIC and GHIC are not replacements for travel insurance.

Research your destination:

  • Visit the FCDO travel advice page to learn about local laws and customs.

  • Understand entry requirements and how they differ from the UK.

Prepare your documents:

  • Check your passport is valid at the GOV.UK passport renewal service.

  • Make sure you have all necessary visas well in advance.

  • Make digital copies of important documents and store them securely.

Take care of your health:

If you feel unwell while on holiday

We know being ill away from home can be worrying, but we’re here to support you.

If you or anyone in your party starts to feel unwell, please seek medical assistance as soon as possible so you can get the right advice and care. If you need urgent medical help, contact local emergency services immediately. In many destinations, the emergency number is 112 – it’s a good idea to check before you go.

You should also let your TUI rep or the hotel reception team know as soon as possible, so we can provide additional support if needed. They can also help arrange local medical care if you need it. You can also contact our 24/7 TUI on-holiday support team via the TUI app or by phone – they’ll talk you through any next steps and provide further help.

To help protect other guests, you may be advised to rest in your room or avoid shared public areas such as pools or restaurants until you’re feeling better.

Share your plans with someone you trust:

  • Leave your itinerary and emergency contacts with family or friends.

Manage your Finances:

  • Take sufficient money and ensure you have access to emergency funds.
