Where we sail in the Netherlands
A TUI River Cruise in the Netherlands is a great way to combine an adults-only river holiday with all the best bits of a country criss-crossed with canals and stamped with a patchwork of tulip fields. It’s famous for its collection of cultural cities – like arty Amsterdam and Europe’s biggest port – Rotterdam. Between them they flaunt an eyebrow-raising assortment of world-famous landmarks – like the Anne Frank Museum, the Rijksmuseum, the Zaanse Schans Dutch community and the Keukenhof flower gardens. The best time to see the latter is in March or April, when we offer excursions to see the famous tulips in all their rainbow-hued glory.Off the beaten track
Our river cruises to the Netherlands tick off lesser-known places like Nijmegen and Veere, too. Veere’s right next to a lagoon and is a popular spot for watersports, while Nijmegen is the country’s oldest city. We also include the Netherlands on our Rhine Explorer river cruise, which covers off Amsterdam, as well as places like Cologne in Germany and Basel in Switzerland.Top Netherlands river cruise itineraries

Veere
The city of Veere sits next to a lagoon on Walcheren Island in the Netherlands. It’s popular for its beaches, marinas and watersports, and has a colossal storm surge barrier called the ‘oosterscheldekering’. This barrier was designed to protect the Netherlands from flooding from the North Sea, and is the most popular tourist attraction in the area.
