Where we sail in Belgium

Sail in style on one of our Dutch & Belgian Waterways cruises to Belgium. The cities of Antwerp and Ghent are the key stops – our Beautiful Benelux cruise includes a visit to both destinations, while the Dutch Delights itinerary includes a day in Antwerp. Belgium river cruises deal in art, history, food and photo stops – so there’s lots to suit all kinds of interests.

    Diamond districts and townhouses

Upmarket Antwerp’s pinned to the banks of the Scheldt River and mixes a glitzy diamond district with a Medieval city centre. There’s lots by way of shopping – it’s particularly popular with fashionistas and art enthusiasts. Ghent, meanwhile, comes up trumps on the looks front, thanks to its colourful canal-side townhouses and riverbank walking trails. There’s lots to see here, from a 12th-century castle to an 11th-century cathedral. Then there’s Belgium’s food. Don’t miss the chance to try moules-frites – mussels and chips – as well as sweet waffles or even fresh rabbit stew.

Our river cruises to Belgium also come with a heap of excursions to choose from. You can use your £120 worth of excursions credit to do things like tour Antwerp city, visit Bruges or explore Ghent on foot. Bruges is only an hour from Ghent so a daytrip here’s a top choice. You might tick off Bruges landmarks like the market square, which is home to an 83-metre-tall Belfry and the city hall. Stay in Ghent, meanwhile, and you’ve got the option of exploring St Bavo Cathedral, home to a famous Renaissance painting called The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb.
