WHICH MIDLANDS AIRPORTS DOES TUI FLY FROM?

TUI flies from two international airports in the Midlands, East Midlands and Birmingham. Each airport has one terminal for international flights, so it’s easy finding where to check in for your TUI holiday.

EGYPT

Think Egypt, think pyramids, pharaohs and sandy beaches. But head towards the coast to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh and you’ll find All Inclusive resorts, as well as a snorkelling and scuba diving scene that looks like it’s been plucked from Finding Nemo. Egypt’s Red Sea coastlines are sprinkled with coral reefs and ship wrecks – some of them date back to World War II – and a lot of the snorkelling and diving experiences here cater to both newbies and pros.

Traditional Egypt is a piece of cake to uncover here, too. Hurghada City and downtown Sharm rock souks, where spices fill the air, and impressive mosques. Sound up your street? You can fly direct to Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh with us from East Midlands and Birmingham Airport.

FLORIDA

Florida, theme parks, families – America’s Sunshine State is a master when it comes to making memories. Our flights from Birmingham Airport touch down at Melbourne Orlando International Airport, near Florida’s east coast. So, on top of Orlando headliners like Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, you’re also within range of top beach hubs like Cocoa Beach and Melbourne Beach.

If you’re travelling with wannabe astronauts, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is close by, too. It’s the home of America’s space program, and you can stand in the shadows of real rockets during your visit, including Space Shuttle Atlantis – it’s orbited the Earth nearly 5,000 times.

Since our flights to Florida are long haul, you’ll fly there on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. It’s one of the most-efficient aircraft we operate, and it’s fitted with light and air systems that are designed to give jetlag the boot.

GREECE

You’ll need two hands to count all the Greek islands we fly to from East Midlands and Birmingham. Size-wise, Crete, Rhodes and Corfu top the scale, and their beaches and hotel offering fit the bigger-is-better theme. Each one’s stocked with ancient landmarks, too, making them ideal picks if you want to sprinkle your beach stay with some sightseeing.

Zante and Kefalonia take a more laidback approach to island getaways. Away from the larger hotels, you’ll find seafront towns, where tavernas serve up coastal views alongside Greek faves like gyros and souvlaki.

Santorini, Skiathos and Kos round off our Greek island line-up. You’ve probably seen Santorini on your Instagram feed, especially the town of Oia. The houses here rock a colour scheme that matches the Greek flag, and they’re layered like a wedding cake along seafront cliffs. Skiathos has its own claim to fame, too, since the movie Mamma Mia! was partially filmed here. Kos doesn’t hold back when it comes to scenery and sea splashing, either – its coastlines stretch out for more than 180 miles.

JAMAICA

If you’re keen on the Caribbean, you can fly to Jamaica with TUI from Birmingham Airport. And, just like our Florida flights, you’ll travel onboard a 787 Dreamliner. Our holidays to Jamaica touch down at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, one of the island’s most popular beach towns and cruise ports. Here, expect All Inclusive waterfront hotels, with all the ingredients for a solid dose of R&R – we’re talking spas, big buffet restaurants and private belts of sand.

Outside of Montego Bay, you’ve got the towns of Negril and Ocho Rios to check out, both of which are about a 90-minute transfer from Sangster International Airport. Negril’s on Jamaica’s westernmost point, and is home to the world-famous Seven Mile Beach. Ocho Rios, meanwhile, is the ideal by-the-beach base for ticking off the Dunn River Falls. The only way to reach the top of this 600-foot waterfall is by linking arms in a human chain, so remember to bring your swimming gear.

SPAIN

Summer holidays and Spain are a no-brainer. It’s also a no-brainer that our flights from regional airports in the Midlands take off to tonnes of Spain’s top locations. We have holidays in 12 different areas of España, including across the mainland, the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands.

For the former, our beach holidays to Spain are all centred around the country’s costas. Costa del Sol is the one you’ve likely heard of the most. It’s on Spain’s southern coastline, and pairs big timers like Marbella and Malaga with a bunch of smaller beach towns. Plus, it gets over 320 days of sunshine a year, so it’s no wonder why folks from the UK have been coming here on holibobs for over 60 years.

If you’re set on flying further afield, you can touch down in Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria – in the Canary Islands – from both East Midlands Airport and Birmingham Airport. The Canary Islands are anchored off the coast of west Africa, and are between a four and five-hour flight from the UK. Since they’re so close to Africa, high temps and heaps of sand are a given. All three also sweeten the deal with some real travel-mag-ready countryside. The entire island of Lanzarote’s bagged World Biosphere Reserve status from UNESCO, and it’s home to Timanfaya National Park – the landscapes here are said to be a spitting image of the surface of the moon. Elsewhere, Tenerife packs in more than 40 protected nature areas, including Mount Teide National Park, which is home to the world’s third-highest volcano. Gran Canaria does countryside a little differently to its siblings – expect gorges, cliffs and canyons.

The Balearic Islands round up our Spanish holiday offering from the Midlands. Just like the Canaries, three’s the magic number here, with flights to Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza all available from East Midlands and Birmingham. Majorca’s the largest of the lot, and deals in coves, cathedrals and cocktails. The capital, Palma, has these three C’s covered, while smaller seaside towns like Sa Coma are more geared towards tasting tapas by the ocean – no surprise it’s a popular pick for a romantic getaway.

On the shorefront side, Menorca’s almost identical to its bigger sibling, but elsewhere it takes a trendier turn. Its two largest cities, Mahon and Ciutadella, centre their hotel offering around smaller boutiques as opposed to bigger resorts, so the vibe’s relaxed. And, head into the countryside and you’ll find plenty of traditional villages to explore. Don’t forget to wander around Torre d’en Gaumes – you can explore ruins that date back over 600 years.

Ibiza’s the place to be if you’re into your nightlife. World-class DJs drop by the capital, Ibiza Town, every year to host beach and pool parties. And, even when the big names aren’t in town, the hefty selection of cocktail bars and nightclubs rarely turn down the tempo. That doesn’t mean families are left out of the loop, though. Ibiza has more family-friendly towns and resorts than it does nightlife hubs, especially on the north coast. Towns like Puerto San Miguel and Portinatx dish out beaches that are well suited for sandcastle-building, while Santa Eulalia has sandy space for tots and a bar offering for grown-ups.

TURKEY

We have a trio of destinations on Turkey’s south coast for you to take off to from regional airports in the Midlands. Flights to Dalaman are available from both East Midlands and Birmingham, while holidays to Antalya and Bodrum from the Midlands depart from Birmingham. All three have solid reps as beach hotspots, thanks to their plots along Turkey’s Turquoise Coast.

Splashing in hidden coves, floating on the water in lagoons, playing with your little ones in the waves – there’s something to suit all styles. The same goes for the hotel offering, as well. You can put your feet up in a massive All Inclusive resort, or opt for something a little more laidback, like a family-run boutique.

Getting to the heart of traditional Turkey is a piece of cake no matter which part you pick. Dalaman and Bodrum are within daytripping distance of Ephesus, which once held the title as the second-biggest city in the Roman Empire. Over in Antalya, you’ll want to head into the city centre for the older-style stuff. The souks are a good place to start since you can clue yourself up on the local culture while haggling for spice sets and Turkish delight.
