Gran Hotel Bali

Hotel is in La Cala area which is about 40 mins walk to old town centre, 10 minutes walk to beach, supermarket nearby plus tobaco shop, several little cafes and a good sports bar called Heroes charging just over a euro for a pint! Massive hotel with several restaurants/ bars -stayed in taller older building floor 6, basic rooms but very clean with daily maid service. On check in make sure you pre load euros onto room card as you get 15% discount when used in hotel bars, prices are not excessively hiked either which is always good to know. Full board - plentiful buffet restaurant with a lot of choice with excellent service empty plates whipped away, free wine/water included food continually being refilled- only downside food was fairly bland. so after 3 days we decided to eat out for dinner. Massive pool area - very clean and well catered for unfortunately we were in the middle of the worst storms in Spains history but hey ho! I would definately recommend this hotel if you dont mind being so far away from town and are not particularly bothered about non spicy foods!

Went last minute with my 6 year old daughter, just the two of us. The area is very nice. There’s a supermarket close by and the beach is a 5 minute walk away...and it’s beautiful. There’s a few nice bars and restaurants in the area. Also,it’s just short of Benidorm so if you book a coach transfer, you’ll probably get dropped off first and collected last....AWESOME! We stayed in the old tower of the hotel. It’s a little dated and old fashioned but it was very clean and perfect functional. We got there late and still had to wait 30 mins to check in, but I saw the next day that we were lucky. The reception isn’t big enough or staffed correctly! There was always a HUGE queue and the staff were understandably, harassed! We went for breakfast late, just before closing and it was always VERY busy. No tables upstairs and again, not enough staff prepping ones where people had finished. Often there were no coffee cups, cutlery or glasses. The staff were just overwhelmed!! The food was decent quality though and there was something for everyone. I’m sure if you’re an early riser, you’d have missed the subsequent carnage. My daughter LOVED the 3 pools. They’re graduated so are perfect for kids of all ages. There was never a problem getting a lounger. There’s a little ice cream parlour by the pool which is a nice touch. It was set up perfectly for kids. We absolutely loved it but were only there 3 days. The staff were generally polite and friendly but there just isn’t enough of them to deal with so many guests. I probably wouldn’t go back but don’t regret choosing to stay there for a single second.
