Repositional and Transatlantic cruises
What is a repositioning cruise?
-
Just like you, our cruise ships like to chase the sun. And that’s where repositional – or repositioning cruises – come in. These types of itineraries usually take place around the end of a season. For instance, a ship might cross the Atlantic from Europe to the Caribbean for winter – and vice versa. This is known as a transatlantic cruise. On the other hand, there are some that don’t involve Atlantic travel and stay closer to home – just leaving and getting back into a different Mediterranean homeport.
Where do they go?
-
Repositional cruises are a great, affordable way to travel, if you’re not worried about returning to the same port you left from. Depending on the itinerary, you’ll have the chance to explore Asia, Europe and the Caribbean. You can set off from Naples and end up in Oman, start in Palma and finish in Barbados on an Atlantic crossing, or tick off a whole lot of the Mediterranean by sailing from Dubrovnik to Malaga.
What’s there to do?
-
They might include a few more days at sea than your standard cruise ship, but you won’t be short on activities. Our whole fleet put on these worldwide cruises, so you’ve got a choice of All Inclusive, modern ships like Marella Explorer and Marella Discovery, with facilities like minigolf, plus smaller favourites like Marella Celebration and Marella Dream. We also like to spice things up with the occasional theme – think Eighties or Nineties.
