Travel to Crystal River and you’ll have the chance to swim with one of nature’s sweetest animals – the manatee. Up to 500 of these playful fellas migrate here every year to get away from the cold, and they love nothing more than swimming around with humans and giving them kisses. Crystal River is the only place in Florida where you can legally swim with them, and is less than two hours from International Drive, so it’s worth planning into your road trip.
Whether you’re looking for something that’s family-friendly, or somewhere more secluded, Florida has plenty of beaches for you to visit. Clearwater Beach is one of our favourites. With pure white sand that stretches for miles, it’s the perfect place to soak up some Florida sunshine. And if you’re not the sunbathing type, there’s plenty to get involved with. You can try parasailing and surfing – or even hit the gym – and for the kids there are inflatable slides, bubble ball football and pirate cruises. There’s also a huge range of restaurants along the seafront and souvenir stalls on the pier. Come evening, grab a cocktail or three and watch the sunset – you won’t regret it.
We know that planning a holiday can be stressful, which is why we’re here to help. We offer an All-in-One package where your flights, hotel, transfers and Disney and Universal tickets are all included, as well as your free car hire. Or, if you prefer to be in control, you can select ‘flight-only’ options so you can make your own choices. In 2016, we fly to Orlando between March and November and offer 7, 10, 11, 14, 21 and 28 night durations. You can learn more about our Florida holidays here.
