Orlando’s biggest and best-known theme parks are on its doorstep – Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort™ are less than 30 minutes' drive away. And when you need to take a breather from the coasters, Kissimmee’s old-fashioned ways are the perfect antidote.

Tradition talks

Kissimmee’s historic downtown is the place that time forgot. It’s filled with classic American diners and antique shops, and right in the middle you'll find Old Town USA – a replica village with an antique fairground and a classic car parade every Saturday. Outside the centre there are more up-to-date attractions, ranging from XL shopping malls to dinner shows, plus a few adventure golf courses for good measure.

The theme parks

Walt Disney World Resort is Kissimmee’s nearest neighbour, so the likes of Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park and Disney Springs are all within a 25-minute drive. Slightly further away is Universal Orlando Resort™, with the Hogwarts™ Express among its must-sees. And for aquatic adventures, you’ve got the choice between Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Universal's Volcano Bay™.

Further afield

Just outside Kissimmee you'll come across Florida country – think sleepy creeks, copper-coloured cattle ranches and colourful citrus groves. The wetlands, meanwhile, are home to wild birds, turtles and alligators – sign up for an airboat tour if you want to see them up close. And Kissimmee's also a golfer’s paradise, with an array of championship courses in striking distance.
