NO LUCK
There aren’t any family holidays in Sorrento left at the moment. Why not take a look at some of the other options?
Friendly hotels, Italian restaurants and a whole range of daytrips make Sorrento a top choice for families.
Friendly hotels
If you think Sorrento is just for couples, think again. Plenty of hotels along the coast cater for both adults and children by serving up kids’ pools, evening shows and please-all buffet restaurants for picky eaters. The Grand Hotel Hermitage, for instance, lays on a free bus to the town centre. And the Hotel Conca Park has a king-sized swimming pool. Spend your nights at the Hilton Sorrento Palace, meanwhile, and the children can sign up to the summertime kids’ club.
Explore the Neapolitan Riviera
Pompeii is about a 40-minute drive away from Sorrento. Some 2,000 years ago, Romans running from the eruption of nearby Mount Vesuvius were buried in hot ash. The petrified figures are still here — and so are their streets, temples and amphitheatre. For the inside track on the whole place, get yourself on to a guided tour. Boat trips around the Bay of Naples are another way to while away the time. Stops include Ischia, an island famous for its beaches and natural hot springs.
