Great place! We loved it
What a great spot. Our room had amazing views right on the cliff over the. At of Naples. The breakfast was nice and The staff was helpful and friendly. The swimming area while a bit unique (5 floors down by elevator) it was great. I highly recommend this hotel.More
Beautiful and convenient cliff-side resort in Sorrento
Everything you could ask for in Sorrento. The hotel and grounds are beautiful inside and out. We stayed in a suite with the hot tub on our private terrace with incredible views. We had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant as well as excellent breakfasts. The staff was both helpful and attentive. Lastly the location is perfect, just a short walk to the center of Sorrento.More
Total rip off
For what you pay you get a fraction of a 5 star experience. This is a three star hotel at best. The grounds and pool were beautiful and the staff at the pool were very nice. Everything else did not come close to worth it. We were there for our honeymoon which I had told them ahead of time and there was no mention of it. Front desk staff was borderline rude on check in. In order to use any electricity in the room you need to plug your key into an outlet in the main hall of your room. This is totally weird and there was just a brief mention of it on check in. When I called with questions I was yelled at and hung up on. Also, why do I need to plug my key into the wall to get electricity? $500 a night doesn't entitle me to electricity? No air conditioning. $500 a night and there's no AC. The window in our bathroom was rotting through. The balcony was rusty. There is a STADIUM literally 50 yards away. Upon arriving we were so excited to use our sea view balcony and we are blasted with techno music and black eyed peas songs from some kind of stadium event. When I went to ask the front desk if there was a quieter room he said ours was the quietest without even asking which room we were in. That night we came home to a cruise ship blasting the Macarena and Gangnam style. I repeat the Macarena and Gangnam style. The next morning at breakfast I was excited to eat by the windows in the beautiful dining room only to be told that any of the tables near the windows were for guests. What am I then? So I had a beautiful view of empty tables instead of the sea. We had a car coming to meet us for a tour and as we came to the lobby the front desk agent starting screaming our room number across the lobby. Maybe approaching people and addressing them by the names their parents were kind enough to give them would be a little more professional. The hotel is not located very close to the center of town and it is very desolate and dark waking home at night. A five star hotel should provide some sort of shuttle. Thanks for taking our money and two days of my honeymoon we'll never get back Grand Hotel Ambasciatori! Hope others don't make the same mistake we did and find somewhere else to stay. More
What a place!!!!!!!
This hotel is amazing. Perfectly located on a cliff rock with Mt Vesuvius in the background and clear blue waters of the Mediterranean. Views from the hotel are breathtaking. It has a private lift going down the decked beach through a cave. You can sip cocktails at the deck loungers with a snack bar nearby. Exquisite decor at the lobby with tastefully done marble floors. You get a sense of pure luxury when entering the hotel door. The rooms were perfectly decorated with an Italian feel to them. Service was impeccable. All staff were always willing to assist with any queries we had. Of improvement to make is the egg station at breakfast. One person preparing eggs and pancakes is perhaps a bit of an ask. It causes queues and by the time one sits at the table with a plate some items are already cold as a result. Drinks at the hotel are also pricey. In conclusion we had a great celebration of a wedding at the hotel. Amazing food(seafood risotto the best), fantastic service, fabulous stay and outstanding views.More
Beautiful Common Areas, Subpar Rooms
The lobby, restaurant, pool and beach area for this hotel are fantastic. Immaculately cared for, clean and first class all around. Unfortunately our room was the polar opposite. It was small, even for a European hotel room. The bathroom door could not even been opened without hitting the toilet and our window had a scenic view of a brick wall. Granted we only reserved a basic room, but based on the pictures, I expected more. Beautiful hotel, but unless you can afford one of the upgraded rooms, I suspect many would be disappointed staying here. More
