Great Hotel and Location !
After reading some of the reviews on Tripadvisor I was a bit worried about booking this hotel . However i was pleasently surprised when we actually got there We hired a car and drove to the hotel from the airport - Took about an hour to get there The staff at the hotel were brilliant from the offset and did everything to make our stay brilliant I read alot of negative reviews about the food . However we had a very positive experience . The variety of food was good and always tasty Most of the food is Greek inspired ..and we always got something different at every meal - The staff were great (kudos to Cristos and Katerina who were always on hand to help and went out of their way to make sure we were happy) There is also a Pizza and icecream place within the hotel (chargeable) Rooms were clean - Bathrooms are OK and cleaned everyday - Lovely views from the balcony . There is a TV(Local channels) and a fridge which is quite handy to have . There are two pools - Quiet one which is mainly taken up by adults and a second one where all the kids/families are (where we spent most of our time as we had a 11 month old baby) - To be honest both the pools are pretty quiet - very family friendly hotel Wireless internet is available is available but only near the reception/Lobby area (Computer available in Lobby to use the internet if required) There is a little kids playroom with some toys in the Lobby Skala town is about a 15min walk - Niceliitle town with various shops/restaurants Beach is about 10min walk from the hotel - Although it is a bit stony If you have a car i would recommend the 10min dive to Mouda beach - Clean quiet , sandy beach .More
All inclusive,first experience!
But it isn't is it? Lots of extras to find, kettle, safe, bottled water . A large well run, clean complex. Friendly , helpful staff. Wide selection of food in the buffet style restaurant, albeit strange combinations at times. Beautiful sea views from room and communal areas. The regular courtesy bus into Skala is a life saver. Entertainment very questionable! Considering the cost of the holiday, clean towels every day rather than every third day would have been appreciated. They had seen better days when they arrived too, fresh but abrasive. All in all a very big hotel, well managed but a bit tired in places, falling short on the luxuries that 'All Inclusive ' meant in my mind. More
Last Minute Break
Booked San Giorgio as a last minute break with my partner. Our room had some of the most stunning view, admittedly we had to climb a couple of hills to get there however it was well worth it. Should you not want to walk the hotel offered an in house shuttle service around the grounds. Food was of a good standard and nicely varied evening to evening, the snack bar could possibly offer a little more however it is only a " snack" bar. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the area, and knew our drinks order after a couple of days! Chilly pools, yet this wasn't a problem with the 30+ plus temperatures. Overall an enjoyable stay at reasonable cost.More
Great for R&R
We need a weeks r n r in July and picked the San Giorgio because if offered all inclusive, a novelty in Greece and not something I would normally pick. On arrival the first impression is very good, clean modern reception, very efficient check in, have a drink while your bags are dropped at your room. This is great service as the hotel is on a hill side and I wouldn't want to be humping suitcases up all the steps. It does warn you up front about the steps, they aren't joking. The rooms are typical Greek and aren't luxurious and could stand a lick of paint, but we found the beds comfortable. A word of warning if you haven't stayed on Greek island it is toilet paper in a bin, not flushed away. This is normal if unnerving for the more sensitive. Our room was on the second level about 30/40 feet above the pool. Great sea views. Apparently if you stay in the higher rooms, quiet a distance away it's fantastic views! The pools are great, even better with the kids pool and adults pools being a distance apart - grumpy old fart! Though the adults/quiet pool wasn't that quiet, some people like the sound of their own voice and the drink doesn't help. On to the drink. So what if they serve it in plastic glasses? It looks like it is a local requirement and who wants broken glass etc round the pool? The sampler glasses mean you have to move regularly! Get over yourselves! If you want buckets of booze go to Benidorm! Rant over. The food was variable and probably not what some expect in all in. No real fancy show cooking etc. It was generally tasty and there was plenty of it. The Greek night was very good. More local food please. Lack of decent fish was a bit disappointing. The local wine in the restaurant was drinkable though, red better than white for me, and it was served in glasses! Sorry ranting again. Entertainment, don't go for it myself but the Greek night was good and the little guy leafing if was great! Wish i was that fit and apple, going to the gym now. Why not offer lessons? All in great week. Go. Try itMore
Did not live up to expectations
Great position loved the view. Great to have the free minibus into Skala. Had a problem with the beds but once reported to reception it was sorted out. We were there the last week in September and the first few days the food was ok, after that the hotel emptied and the food quality and quantity went right down, so much so that we had to go out to eat. I have to say that in my opinion you should get the same service wether you are the first guests of the season or the last, sadly we didn't, and for that reason we felt really let down.More
