Hotel Tara Beach

When we first arrived Yiannis spoke to us by our first names and throughout the week he knew everyone’s names. A nice little touch to make you feel welcome. He was very helpful and often asked if we were ok. We needed to borrow a couple of non-standard things while we were there and he lent us his own items. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and this was all very genuine. The bar staff said goodbye and gave our 4yo a hug goodbye and Yiannis saw us off as we left. The hotel is right across the road from the beach which is huge. The sea was very clear and safe (we took our 4yo). The hotel is only a short walk (literally a few mins) from the main restaurant area. We had lunch most days at the hotel and the Greek salads were lovely but even better were the Mezes for 2 people - they were huge and delicious which we ate on the beach. Food/drink can be ordered on the beach and delivered to you. The pool and the area around it were very clean. We never had a problem getting a sun bed. If you want a hotel right by the beach with staff who want to make your holiday better this is the hotel for you! We don’t usually return to the same hotel but we aim to come back next year. From stepping from the coach to leaving the Tara Beach once again we had an excellant stay. Yannis greeting us upon arrival and Al carring our cases to a lovely room (5) with views of both the pool area and beach. Yannis isvery helpful and will offer advice on the area and places to vist and eat at. Comfortable large bed lovely soft pillows, ample clean sheets and towels changed often. Wardrobe and storage space was plentifull, balcony spacious enough for 2.The maid is in every day and keeps the rooms spotless. Breakfast is typical Greek with a variety of cerelas.ham. cheese,tomatoes, fruit juice, coffee, tea a selection of breads to either toast or sandwich, with fruit and yoghurt. Cooked breakfast is available at a charge. Bathroom typical Greek with a hairdryer supplied. A small fridge to store a bottle or two. No kettle in the room so take your own if you want hot drinks. The pool bar serves good portion sizes and plenty of drinks. The Tara have their own beach spot small stones and sand,where sun beds and umbrellas can be used and staff will serve drinks an dfood direct to your spot. All staff are freindly and are kept busy nothing is a problem for them. The location is great with the town to your right up a slight incline where there are ample resturants and cafe's. All resturatns are mostly the same prices and serve all cultures of cuisine. There are a couple of restuarants along the beach where you can while a away a couple of hours.

The location was excellent, right one the beach and just a few hundred yards from the town. The Hotel has a wonderful situation and the grounds are well maintained and full of lemon / lime trees. We were originally given a high number room but changed for a lower number (1 - 11) on the ground floor which was much better. It had a balcony overlooking the grounds and a side sea view. Yannis, the Manager, was very good and knew our names by the first day. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We travelled to a range of beaches / areas and found Skala to be the best (Lassi was more beautiful but very crowded. There were so many sunbeds, so close together, that it was only possible for one of us to be in the sun at the same time). Restaurants were generally good - we would recommend Pesalis (on the beach) and Apostolis (up and to the side of the church). Sally's Bar is highly recommended with drinks that tasted full strength. Veronika's jewellery shop is also recommended, selling a large range of unique, hand-made items. The beach is pebbly but nice and the sea is very clear. There is a wide range of bars / restaurants along the beach and we would recommend Ammos Bar which is about a 10 minute walk along the beach to the left of the Hotel (with the Hotel behind you) - great music and nice sunbeds. The, very few, negatives - you have to pay separately for air conditioning (45 Euro per week) - the bathrooms are very basic and in need of an upgrade - wifi isn't great in the rooms but Ok in the reception area.
