In Gdansk, the winters are quite chilly, and the summers are mild. Expect temperatures to go sub-zero if you’re visiting between November and February, and days to hover around 15°C in July and August. In spring and autumn, it doesn’t tend to get above 10°C. So, pack a jacket whenever you’re holidaying here – and save some room in your suitcase for thermals if your trip’s planned for the colder months.

You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. It’s also a good idea to get a European Health Insurance Card – or EHIC – before leaving the UK. Though it’s not a substitute for travel insurance, it entitles you to emergency medical treatment on the same terms as Polish nationals. It won’t, however, cover you for medical repatriation, ongoing medical treatment or non-urgent treatment.
