Planning an autumn escape? We don’t blame you. The clocks go back in October, which means days are even darker and summer feels like a distant memory. So, if you fancy booking a holiday to break up those cold, dark nights, we promise a sun-kissed getaway is within easy reach.
Our pick of the hottest holiday destinations includes Turkey where ancient sites and spice-scented bazaars take centre stage, Orlando where you can combine Halloween fun with sunbathing on the beach. But, if you're craving an island adventure, look no further than Jamaica. Here's our pick of the destinations where temperatures are still sky high in October…

Only in Florida can you combine the world’s best Halloween festivities with sunshine and amazing weather. Walt Disney World plays host to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party which lines up Halloween parades, spooky fireworks shows, and eerie entertainment. And, Universal Orlando put on their legendary Halloween Horror Nights which include terrifying scare zones, haunted houses and characters from popular films and TV shows. Plus, if you’re after a holiday across the pond that’s a little more low key, there’s always Florida’s Space Coast. Here, you can unwind by two of the Sunshine State’s top sandy swathes – Melbourne Beach and Cocoa Beach – and discover the heart of America’s space programme at the Kennedy Space Center.

This spot is chock-a-block with history, too, with the likes of Chichen Itza, a world-famous Mayan temple, on its team. And, when it comes to food, Cancun serves up delicious options for every day of the week. Tuck into sizzling street stall tacos, fresh ceviche, and delicious churros. As the sun goes down, Cancun turns into party central with bars, clubs, and beachfront parties that'll keep you dancing all night. Say good riddance to the winter blues in October. Jamaica is your ticket to sunny days with temperatures of around 28°C. Check out the iconic Dump-up Beach, one of the three crescent-shaped gems that make up Montego Bay's finest downtown beaches. While you soak up the sun, keep your eyes peeled for unexpected surprises along the coast mong the jewel-coloured waters and powdery white sands –it’s not uncommon for impromptu concerts and lively football matches to crop up out of the blue here. But Jamaica has more than just beautiful beaches. If you're travelling with little ones, the island offers plenty of watersports and family-friendly activities, especially in Harmony Beach Park. And, a visit to the Caribbean wouldn't be complete without tasting the island's best eats, like crumbly patties, curry goat and jerk chicken.
