Le Morne holidays
Jump to sections
Holidays to Le Morne are all about white-sand beaches, coral-filled lagoons and laidback village life.
Sandy beaches and blue lagoons
The little village of Le Morne sits on a peninsula that juts out from Mauritius’ south-western corner. As well as a white sandy beach and an aqua-coloured lagoon, the standout feature here is Brabant peak, a UNESCO-listed rocky mountain that looks over the Indian Ocean.
Water-centric activities
Le Morne’s lagoon is a playground for watersports fans, and you’ll often spy wind and kitesurfers skimming across the waves. The offshore reef's a top spot for snorkellers, too. If you prefer your activities to take place on dry land, you can explore nearby Black River Gorges National Park or play a round at Paradis Hotel Golf Club's 18-hole course.
Le Morne village
The village itself is a little way from the peninsula – about 15 minutes’ walk. It’s a sleepy place, with a couple of restaurants and a handful of local shops. For something a bit livelier, make the half-hour drive north to Flic en Flac, where you’ve got everything from steakhouses to nightclubs.
