Best things to do in Ibiza

Heading to Ibiza? It’s not all clubbing and partying, don’t miss some of the island’s other attractions.
Ibiza's the Balearic Islands’ top party spot, with its world-famous clubs hosting A-list DJs all summer long. However, that’s just one side to this island. It’s also got a hippy and spiritual feel that brings its own energy – spots to watch the sunset are dotted along the island’s west coast and there are hippy markets scattered all over. So, whether you want a week of non-stop partying, or want to reach your inner zen, this Balearic Island has something for you.

Mooch around the hippy markets

Ibiza has a very colourful side to it and it’s known for hippy markets. They’ve been held all over the island since the 1960s, when hippies spent the winter in Asia then brought back their colourful goods to sell at markets in the summer. Fancy a visit? The Hippy Market Punta Arabi in Es Cana and the Las Dalias Hippy Market in San Carlos are some of our faves.

The latter looks like a rainbow, with colourful streamers hanging from the sky and rows of stalls selling everything from one-of-a-kind jewellery – like earrings made from recycled glass – to customised shoes and glitzy purses. There are also lots of bars serving sharing dishes and cocktails for a break in between shopping.

Take a boat trip from San Antonio

Head to San Antonio‘s port if you fancy a boat trip. Our favourite has to be a catamaran ride that sets sail in time for sunset. A saxophonist plays the backing track as you drift out to sea. Meanwhile, it’s like one big party on the top deck, with everyone up dancing and a floral-decorated wall which makes for the ideal selfie background.

If you’d rather set sail during the day, you can hop on a catamaran cruise with swim stops where you can see the neighbouring island, Formentera. Want to dial things up a notch? All-day party boats have got you covered, where music blares from giant speakers and you can whip out your best dance moves.

Hit the clubs in Ibiza Town and Playa d’en Bossa

No Ibiza round up is complete without mentioning its party scene.

Ibiza Town’s home to some of the island’s most iconic names, including Pacha – the first super-club on the island that’s now known for its cherry logo and electronic beats.

Playa d’en Bossa, meanwhile, has favourites like Ushuaia and Hi Ibiza which attract DJs like Calvin Harris and David Guetta. It also has one of the longest beaches on the island – it’s lined with swish beach bars, so you can party here all day.

Watch the sunset over Es Vedra

Es Verdra’s a limestone rock formation that juts out of the sea, just off Cala D’hort on the south coast of Ibiza. Some locals say it holds magical powers and it’s been named the source of the island’s energy, thanks to being the third most magnetic point in the world.

People flock to Cala D’hort’s beaches to bag themselves the best view of the sun setting below the rock. There are also a trio of seafood restaurants which give you front row seats to the sunset. Top tip: it’s very popular, so get there early for the best view.

Shop the boutiques in Dalt Vila

Dalt Vila – AKA Ibiza’s old town – gives you a whole different feel to the lively, modern Ibiza Town and port. The fortified town’s perched on a small mountain next to the sea. There are lots of high terraces where you can look down over the town and out to the water, so have your camera at the ready.

You’ll know you’ve reached it when you see stone walls standing tall in front of you, with either a drawbridge to enter inside, or small archways carved out of the stone. Once you’re within the town’s walls, you’ll find yourself in a web of winding, cobbled streets. They’re all lined with cosy tavernas and cafés as well as boutique shops, where you can buy anything from super-club Pacha’s iconic cherry merch to handmade scarfs and bags.

Join a yoga class at the Time and Space lookout

Ibiza’s Time and Space lookout showcases another side of the island’s spiritual and hippy background. It’s often referred to the as the Ibizan Stonehenge, but it was actually created by Andre Rogers – a world-famous sculptor – in 2014. You’ll find the tall stone structure on a cliff edge in the secluded bay of Cala Llentia.

The stones are arranged to represent the solar system, with the central and tallest pillar topped with gold to act as the sun. The other pillars symbolise the planets. There’s also a mystic doorway, that visitors are encouraged to walk through to reflect on their own life’s past. It’s become a popular place for yoga classes and sound baths – a meditative experience that uses sound waves to help you relax. Want to feel your inner zen in Ibiza? This is the place to be.
