Es Cana holidays
Jump to sections
Holidays to Es Cana are a far cry from Ibiza's wilder side. They offer quiet beaches, nightlife that's the right side of lively – plus the most famous hippie market on the island.
Relaxed resort
Es Cana is a small picture-postcard resort on the east coast of Ibiza. It’s a fairly relaxed place, with a tiny working harbour overlooked by whitewashed houses and a cluster of waterfront restaurants. Evenings here revolve around lively bars – though the real buzz comes from the famous weekly hippie market.
A beach that measures up
Es Cana certainly makes relaxing easy – it has one of the longest beaches this side of the Balearic Islands. It’s a crescent-shaped stretch that gives you about 300 metres of golden sand, all backed by pine trees. But there are all the usual watersports, too, from banana boats to parasailing, for when you want to pick up the pace.
Legendary hippie market
Ibiza is famous for its hippie markets – and the original one at Es Cana is a real institution. The place is packed with stalls selling colourful kaftans, ethnic jewellery and incense sticks. It doubles up as an impromptu entertainment hub as well, thanks to the drummers and didgeridoo players who perform here.
Daytrips to Santa Eulalia
10 minutes’ drive gets you to Santa Eulalia. It’s the island’s third-largest resort and a real cultural hub – you’ll find art galleries and museums between the high-end boutiques and glamorous marina. It also has a reputation for being Ibiza’s gastronomic capital. A visit to Calle San Vicente, or Restaurant Street as it’s better known, is a must.
