GRIFID METROPOL – GOLDEN SANDS, BULGARIA

We wouldn’t mind betting that Bulgaria doesn’t spring to mind when you think about the best cuisine in the world. Well, the restaurant at the Grifid Metropol – which is tucked up next to one of the beaches that gives Golden Sands its name – is here to change your mind. The hotel’s home to a fusion restaurant that wouldn’t look out of place in a London hotel. It serves up Heston Blumenthal-style molecular cuisine as part of a nine-course tasting menu. After dinner, head up to the Sky Bar, where you can sip cocktails with a view over the Black Sea.

THE PYRAMID AT GRAND OASIS – CANCUN, MEXICO

Food’s all about taste, right? Wrong. When you’re tucking into a meal, you actually take in the smell, the texture and the appearance of the food. Take any of these away and the rest of your senses will be amplified. Which is exactly what you’ll be signing up for if you book a table at The Black Hole restaurant at The Pyramid at Grand Oasis. Here, you’ll be treated to a blind dining experience – the whole restaurant is in darkness. It’s so dark, in fact, that you can’t even see your own hands. The result? You’ll really appreciate the flavours and textures of your food. Trust us, it’s not to be missed.

LUX* BELLE MARE – BELLE MARE, MAURITIUS

We promised you Michelin-starred food, and we’re going to deliver. At the five-star LUX* Belle Mare in Mauritius, you can order Indian food from a menu designed by Michelin-starred chef, Vineet Bhatia. And as if that wasn’t enough, the hotel’s buffet restaurant has a Josper charcoal oven, a saj oven for oriental bread making and a glass oven for baking viennoiseries – so it’s fair to say they take food seriously.

THE SURREY – UPPER EAST SIDE, NEW YORK

Attention to detail is the name of the game at The Surrey – and that includes the food. This boutique hotel really stands out from the crowd, namely because it’s got its very own café manned by three-Michelin-star head chef, Daniel Boulud. The café itself has earned its own Michelin star and specialises in French fare. At lunch and dinnertime, you’ll be able to choose from four menus offering everything from Asian-inspired eats to vegetarian food. And when it comes to desserts, let’s just say they almost look too good to eat.

TUI SENSATORI PUNTA CANA – UVERO ALTO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

The adults-only experience at Kitchen 23 by Le Chique takes contemporary dining to a new level. Wondering what we mean? Well, the six-course tasting menu is like a performance that stirs the senses. The main dish is revealed from beneath a glass cloche, which is filled with woody smoke. Others are built on the table right in front of you. Each course looks like a piece of art, set to challenge both your taste buds and your ideas of how traditional food is served. We’re talking herb-infused pineapple chunks on giant metal spikes and puddles of coriander on specially-moulded plates. Our top pick’s the chocolate textures dish, where you’ll get to taste chocolate foam and soil – much tastier than it sounds, we promise.

LOPESAN COSTA MELONERAS – MELONERAS, GRAN CANARIA

The Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort looks like a palace, so it’s fitting that you’ll eat like a royal while you’re there, too. On top of two buffet places, the hotel offers an Argentinian steak house and first-class Italian and seafood restaurants. However, the crème de la crème is the gourmet restaurant, which serves local dishes with a contemporary twist. Plus, all of the ingredients are seasonal and fresh as they come. There’s a well-stocked wine list to complement the menu, too.

THE BELLAGIO – LAS VEGAS, USA

You’ll want to undo your belt for this one. Just like the city it’s in, the buffet at The Bellagio is all about excess – you’ll find the legendary hotel right in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip. There’s a huge carving station for meat-eaters, as well as areas dedicated to all things Asian, Italian and American. Nothing’s off limits here, whether you fancy net-fresh seafood or deep fried donuts. Plus, if you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’re in for a treat. The dessert station’s stacked with build-your-own ice-cream sundaes, gooey chocolate brownies and a rainbow of macarons.

THE RESIDENCE AT TUI SENSATORI BARUT FETHIYE – DALAMAN AREA, TURKEY

This chic, adults-only hideaway brings a whole new level of luxury to the TUI SENSATORI collection. As for cuisine, it’s a strictly fine-dining affair and you can even expect an invite to dine at the head chef’s table. The jewel in The Residence’s culinary cuisine, though, has to be Asmani – the Ottoman-inspired restaurant. Here, you can tuck into farm-to-table fare made with produce grown in the Dalaman region. The eatery also comes with its own rooftop terrace, which serves up views that’re as wow-worthy as the dishes.
