You can set the pace on San Antonio Bay holidays. Quiet coves and laidback bars are here, megaclubs are next door and a culture-packed capital's only a short drive away.
San Antonio Bay's on the west coast of Ibiza, which makes it one of the best places on the island to catch the spectacular sunset. There’s a chilled-out vibe here, with quiet sandy coves, relaxed bars and lots of waterfront restaurants. Postcode-wise, it’s just south of the Balearic Islands' party capital, San Antonio Town, and very close to the capital’s UNESCO-rated old town.
A string of little sandy coves runs around the bay. They all come with shallow, paddle-friendly water, beach kiosks and watersports. Es Puet’s jetty is great for feeding the fish, while the bar at Playa S’Estanyol does lovely summer barbecues. And Playa Port d’es Torrent, slightly round from the bay, is popular with snorkellers. You can walk to them all within about 40 minutes.
The great thing about San Antonio Bay is that it's nice and laidback, but it’s practically joined at the hip with super-charged San Antonio Town. So that means you can dip in and out of the action. The central West End area is stacked with bars, restaurants, discos and shops, while Sunset Strip has a great line-up of more relaxed bars. And the two biggest clubs – Eden and Es Paradis – are just opposite S’Arenal Beach.
Handily, you’re just 20 minutes' drive from Ibiza Town. Everyone heads up the hill to the old part – Dalt Vila – where the castle and its 16th-century walls offer fantastic views. Wander around the steep cobbled streets and you’ll see the red-tiled cupolas of churches and the magnificent Santa Maria de les Neus Cathedral between stylish restaurants and boutique shops.
