Best time to go to Madeira

Summer temperatures in Madeira usually average around 24°C between May and September, but it’s not uncommon to see highs of 30°C. On top of that, you can expect a good 7 or 8-hour dose of sunshine every day. In spring and autumn, meanwhile, the thermometer hovers in the low 20s.

Health & Safety

You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. If you’re travelling to the EU and you apply for a card now, you'll get a new UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) instead of an EHIC. This entitles you to emergency medical treatment on the same terms as Portuguese nationals. It won’t, however, cover you for medical repatriation, ongoing medical treatment or non-urgent treatment.
