Passports & Visas
To enter Kenya, your passport must have an expiry date of at least six months after the date you arrive and at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps. You must apply online for an eTA (electronic travel authorisation) etakenya.go.ke before you travel. The Kenyan authorities recommend applying at least two weeks before departure. Each traveller needs their own eTA. It costs US$30 per person.

Health & Safety
Mandatory inbound travel health insurance
From 5 October 2026, most non-Kenyan travellers visiting Kenya for less than 12 months must have Kenyan Government-provided travel health insurance. If you need an eTA, you must buy the insurance as part of the eTA application. The mandatory insurance costs $44 per person, in addition to the US$30 eTA fee. If you already have a valid eTA, you must buy the insurance through the Kenyan eCitizen insurance portal before you travel.
The policy is valid for 90 days and can be used for multiple entries while it remains valid. Foreign travel insurance isn’t accepted instead of this cover, and you should still have separate travel insurance that covers your individual needs.
