Spain lines up first-rate beaches, big-name cities and world-class theme parks.
Where we sail in Spain
You’ve got plenty of choice when it comes to cruises around Spain. In mainland Spain, stroll through the streets of big-hitters like Barcelona, Valencia and Malaga. At the lesser-known end of the scale, sample Spain’s traditional side in Cartagena and Tarragona. Over in the Canary Islands, you can call in at Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. Ibiza and Majorca make up the Balearic Island contingent. For year-round sun, the Canaries are the best bet. Mainland Spain and the Balearics, meanwhile, get hotter between June and September, but cooler in the winter.
Big helping of beaches
The sands are anything but ordinary in the Canary Islands. There’s a choice of stretching out on volcanic black strips or golden-tinted sweeps. Plus, Gran Canaria’s Maspalomas is home to the famous Saharan-sized dunes, where you can play ‘spot the camel’. Over in Spain, the beaches come with Blue Flag credentials. Nerja, for example, has a double helping, and Marbella boasts seven award-winners. In the Balearic Islands, long scoops of sand unravel either side of Majorca’s capital, Palma. Ibiza, meanwhile, lines up pristine sweeps like Playa d’en Bossa.

Port of call in Spain
Ibiza Town
Ibiza’s capital is the antidote to wild resorts like San Antonio and Playa D’en Bossa. Its old quarter has earned a place on the UNESCO World Heritage list, and it’s haloed by Medieval stone walls and topped by a fairytale-looking fortress. Down on the waterfront, meanwhile, you’ll find chic seafood restaurants and one-off boutiques.
