Castellon Cruises, Spain
Castellon’s the capital of a region of the same name, which also goes by the label, Costa del Azahar, AKA the Orange Blossom Coast. It’s found an hour’s drive north of Valencia, so daytrips to the futuristic port city are easy. Here, top attractions include the cathedral, the Central Market and the impressive City of Arts and Sciences, which packs in a 3D cinema, an aquarium and an opera house. Back in Castellon, things revolve around an old quarter filled with laidback squares and churches.
- Potter around the maze-like streets of Valencia’s Barrio del Carmen district. It’s the oldest – and quirkiest – part of town. You can expect trendy bars and galleries selling avant-garde art.
- Head for the hills in Morella. This Medieval walled town sits proudly on top of a hill, making it a great spot for cooling down away from the coast and tucking into locally produced tapas.
- Try before you buy at Castellon’s market. Stalls are piled high with cheese, seafood and fruit, plus the place is ringed by cafés, which pick up the slack when the market closes.
