Getting around

Universal Orlando Resort is big, but that doesn’t mean it’s difficult to get around. And, if you’re travelling with kids who are old enough to walk but still small enough to tire easily, you can rent a pushchair to help get them from A to B. Wheelchairs and Electric Convenience Vehicles are also available for hire, and can be found at the entrance to Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure. There’s no need to book these in advance, but it’s worth noting there’s a limited number of vehicles, so they’re offered on a first-come, first-served basis. And, just so you know, they can only be operated by people aged 18 years or over for safety reasons.

Accessibility

Travelling somewhere new can be a bit daunting, especially when you’re travelling with access needs, reduced mobility, or a disability. Universal Orlando Resort scores top marks when it comes to accessibility – they offer rooms with wider doors and accessible spyholes, wardrobes with lower rods and bathrooms with roll-in showers. It’s not just the rooms that are accessible though, it’s the rides, too – you’ll find signs at every ride to help you determine its suitability. Plus, if you use a wheelchair, you’ll be able to see which rides require you to be able to transfer to the ride seat, and which can accommodate a wheelchair.

Inclusivity

We get it, all the sights, sounds and excitement of the parks can be a bit much for some people. You don’t need to leave the park to get away from it all though. Just head to Health Services, located at the front of the park and you’ll find a Quiet Room – it’s a quiet, low-stimulation space that comes complete with rubber floor tiles, an activity wall, dimming lights and two hiding tunnels. You don’t need to book, but if it’s in use you’ll need to wait till it’s free. And, if you’d like to familiarise yourself with the parks before you visit, you can download Universal Orlando Resort’s sensory guide which gives you the lowdown on what to expect when you arrive. If you have trouble hearing, you can request interpreting services in American Sign Language for select live action shows in Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure. Trained service animals are also welcome, and there are portable kennels at some attractions, too.

Safely stored

You can forget about lugging around bulky bags around Universal Orlando Resort. Instead, rent a locker to store your bits and bobs away safely and conveniently. There are two types of lockers available – all-day lockers which are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and come in two different sizes. Large lockers and family-sized lockers are located by the entrances to Universal Studios Florida. Over at Universal Islands of Adventure there are lockers near the park's entrance, too. At Universal Volcano Bay, you’ll find more all-day lockers at the Rainforest Village, River Village and Wave Village. These ones come in three different sizes – mini, regular and family. They’re available on a first-come, first-served basis and you get unlimited access to them throughout the day. The second type is the single-time use lockers which come in two sizes – standard which is perfect for storing small loose items while you ride, and large which can store bigger items and bags. You’ll find the single-time use lockers at some of the rides at Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure and at water-based attractions like Jurassic Park River Adventure™, Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge Rat Barges® and Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Falls®.
