What’s new at Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts?

From freshly refurbished restaurants to brand-new additions, here’s what you can look forward to.
When it comes to exotic holidays, Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts – one of our handpicked TUI partners – certainly know what’s what. The group has a list of hotels and resorts sprinkled across the Canaries and the Caribbean, and they all come with perks like junior suites as standard and prime locations that put you close to the beach.

The good news is, that list is growing, with a brand-new addition to the portfolio on Mexico’s glittering Riviera Maya. Plus, you’ll find some new features at existing resorts like Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana – which now has a line-up of new restaurants to shout about. We’ve taken a closer look at what’s new, to help you whittle down a hotel for your next holiday.

New opening: Bahia Principe Grand Tequila, Riviera Maya – Mexico

This brand-new adults-only hotel takes its cues from the fiery tipple it’s named after, so you can expect a dash of Mexican spirit in everything from the dining scene to the entertainment. It’s 24/7 All Inclusive, and you’ve got four restaurants and three bars to pick from. La Casita snack bar leads the way with Mexican favourites on the menu and piñatas hanging from the ceiling, while Nikkei Mashua à la carte is the place to go for Japanese and Peruvian fusion food.

A pair of pools are the star attraction outside, and they’re like chalk and cheese when it comes to ambience. Relax on a Bali bed by the chilled main pool, or head to the party pool for – you guessed it – parties themed around everything from Mexico’s answer to Halloween, Day of the Dead, to the country’s most famous artist, Frida Kahlo. And there’s more of the same in the evenings, when you can listen to live music, sing karaoke or dance the night away at a silent disco.

New restaurants: Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana, Bavaro – Dominican Republic

Looking for a family-friendly alternative with just as many features? Enter the Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana – a sprawling resort in the Dominican Republic with a prime spot on the beach. Just like the Grand Tequila, this place has a pool scene that steals the show. As well as a huge main pool that has a swim-up bar, La Isla pool is so big it’s split into three sections – and it comes with sweeping sea views.

The dining set-up is first-rate, too, and from December 2025 it’ll include three new restaurants. Nomad serves up Mongolian dishes, Flame is a sophisticated steakhouse, and Nacar specialises in big buffet spreads with international flavours. The lobby has been totally renovated, too, and the new look is all inspired by the palm trees that Punta Cana is named after. Think leafy foliage, rustic wood and warm sunset tones.
