Best hotels in Croatia

From All Inclusive hotels on the mainland to tucked-away island retreats, Croatia’s got you covered when it comes to incredible places to stay.
If you’re looking for the best hotels in Croatia, you’ll need to cast your net wide. This European gem doesn’t just line up stellar properties along its showstopping shoreline. It’s also got more than 1,000 islands floating off its coast, so the list of amazing places to stay is a long one.

Luxury hotels and All Inclusive resorts are on the agenda along the Dalmatian Coast, and the Istrian Riviera is the place to base yourself for an away-from-it-all escape. Stay on an island like Kolocep, meanwhile, and you’ll have the place almost to yourself – because there’s literally only one hotel that calls this place home.

We’ve picked out some of the best places to stay in Croatia so you can start planning your trip.

When you’re ready, take a look at our Croatia deals.

TUI BLUE Adriatic Beach

Scenery is everything at this elegant adults-only hotel. It’s set at the foot of one of Croatia’s biggest mountains, looking straight out over the Adriatic Sea towards Hvar Island. The only thing separating it from the water is a peaceful pebbly beach – follow the path through the hotel’s smart grounds and you’ll be on the shoreline in a matter of minutes.

The hotel is multi-level, stepped up the hillside in tiers to really make the most of the view. The pool, for example, is on a raised terrace – so you can swim or sip a cocktail from the pool bar with sweeping sea views. The mojito bar is a great spot to soak up sunset from, there’s an al fresco restaurant terrace, and some of the rooms come with sea views, too. To really push the boat out, upgrade to a swim-up – you can see all the way across the terraces, pool and the glittering Makarska Riviera.

TUI BLUE Medulin, Istrian Riviera

Another adults-only property for your shortlist, TUI BLUE Medulin has claimed a quiet spot on Croatia’s Istrian Riviera about a 15-minute walk from the fishing village of Medulin. There’s a miniature train that runs along the beach and into the centre, so you can take your pick of seafront bars and seafood restaurants whenever you fancy – or take a water taxi across to one of the neighbouring islands.

The hotel itself is part of our TUI BLUE collection, which means you can join in with low-key activities like wine tasting and wellbeing sessions when you’re not soaking in the curvy pool. The buffet restaurant serves up main meals made with local ingredients, including seafood and Istrian specialities, and the smart signature à la carte hosts themed evenings worth dressing up for. As for nightcaps, they’re covered in the lobby bar – where freshly muddled cocktails and sunset views await.

TUI BLUE Kalamota Island, Kolocep

This boutique-style hotel is the only property on the traffic-free island of Kolocep and you’ll reach it by boat transfer, so it has an exclusive feel from the word go. It’s built on a hill with steps that lead down to a pebble-and-sand shoreline, and a sleek beach lounge with canopy beds and cocktails completes the picturesque scene.

This hotel is adults-only, so you can make the most of the sea-view pool and waterside bar in peace, and there are grown-up activities like wine tastings, cocktail masterclasses and cooking lessons led by gourmet chefs. On the subject of food and drink, the Italian à la carte is a must – it’s set on the seafront and comes with views that stretch all the way across to the Elaphiti Islands. You get one visit included as part of your All Inclusive stay, and the sunsets are showstopping.

Rixos Premium Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik

Luxury is well and truly on the cards at the Rixos Premium Dubrovnik – a sleek seafront hotel that’s a 20-minute walk from Dubrovnik’s old town. It’s got everything from a two-storey spa to a casino spread across 13 floors, not to mention a super-sophisticated dining scene.

Main meals are served up in the buffet restaurant, with a mix of Japanese, Greek, Indian and Dalmatian dishes curated by international chefs. Plus, you’ve got two à la carte options – a chic seafood place with an open-air terrace and an Asian teppanyaki fine-dining restaurant with show cooking. Drinks, meanwhile, are served up in style on the lobby bar’s supersized terrace, and at the poolside bar complete with Adriatic views.

TUI SUNEO Supetar, Brac Island

Fancy staying on Brac Island? TUI SUNEO Supetar has lots to shout about, starting with TUI SUNEO’s signature WorldCuisine buffet restaurant. This place lays on different stations filled with international dishes for you to work your way around, from the World Flame section – for grilled meats – to the World Pastry area and World Beverage counter.

Food aside, days here revolve around the pool – a circular number framed by a roomy terrace. There’s a kids’ pool and spray ground, too, and a pebbly beach right on the doorstep. Wander down here and you can pay to hire pedalos and kayaks, ride a banana boat or have a go on the floating inflatable obstacle course. That’s if you can tear yourself away from your sunlounger, of course.
