Do I need ETIAS to travel to Europe?

Not yet. The European Union will announce the start date for ETIAS several months before it launches. The application form isn’t available yet, so there’s no need to contact us or take any action right now. 

The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will be a pre-travel authorisation for short stays in EU or Schengen zone countries. It’s not a visa, but it will be required once the system is introduced. 

What you need to know: 

• It will be required for short stays in EU or Schengen zone countries, up to 90 days in a 180-day period 

• Applications will be made through an online form 

• It’ll cost €20, but it’ll be free for travellers under 18 or over 70 

• Once approved, it will be valid for three years, or until your passport expires — whichever comes first
