View All DealsYou can afford to be picky about your beaches with holidays to Corralejo. This lively town on Fuerteventura has a necklace of sandy coves and beaches, plus a 10-kilometre quilt of rolling dunes.
On Fuerteventura’s north coast, Corralejo is a place that likes to keep you on your toes. It’s got some of the best surfing in the Canary Islands – if not Europe, an unmatched nightlife, and tonnes of shops and restaurants. Though if it’s down time you’re after, there are sweeping dunes as deserted as the surface of the moon.
There’s a roll call of white sandy beaches in Corralejo town centre. Right by the harbour is Town Beach, a small spot backed by restaurants. And it’s only a short walk from here to Galera Beach, the busiest section of sand, with beach bars and safe swimming. Alternatively, try Flag Beach for size. Just south of town, this giant 10-kilometre blanket of white sand is a Mecca for surfers and kite-boarders.
The old town is the spiritual heart of Corralejo. Its narrow streets are crammed with seafood restaurants, while, in the harbour, fishermen cast a line from the pier. It’s also the beginning of Avenida General Franco, otherwise known as Main Street, which has a list of international restaurants, shopping centres, plus the busy Music Square.
Just off the coast of Corralejo is Los Lobos, a deserted island that’s home to a small cauldron-shaped volcano and flora and fauna you won’t see anywhere else on earth. The snorkelling here is 5-star. Boats leave Corralejo harbour for Los Lobos throughout the day – the journey takes about 15 minutes.
