Best time to go to St Philip

Barbados’ climate stays pretty constant throughout the year, with temperatures never deviating far from the high 20s. Things cool down slightly in the evenings, but it can still be pretty warm and humid. The island is driest from February to May, although brief tropical rain showers in the afternoons aren’t uncommon. The humidity levels are high throughout the year, June to August tend to be higher, so it’s best to leave windows and balcony doors closed as much as possible to make the most of the air-con and reduce humidity levels in hotel rooms. And while we’re on the subject of hotels, you may find that some facilities, such as restaurants and bars, aren’t available from late April to May and from mid-August to mid-November, but there’ll be enough open so you can still enjoy your stay.

Just so you know, the beaches on this stretch of coastline sometimes experience increased levels of seaweed – called sargassum. It’s influenced by the weather and ocean currents. If your hotel’s affected, the staff will do everything they can to clear it.
