St Philip holidays
Jump to sections
St Phillip holidays give you secluded coves, free-flowing rum and a famous racetrack.
Relax and retreat
St Phillip covers the south-east coast of Barbados. Even though it’s not the best swimming spot, due to the often-rough Atlantic waters, it still has some of the island’s best beaches and bays. Plus, the views and history more than make up for it. It’s a quiet, spot but you’re only a 20-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of neighbouring Christ Church and a 30-minute drive from Bridgetown.
Secluded coves
St Phillip’s coastline is scattered with beaches, but there are a couple worth a mention. The first is Crane Beach – it’s famous for its pink-tinted sands and has previously been rated one of the top 10 beaches in the world. There are a few hiking trails in the cliffs behind if you want to see the shoreline from above, too. The second place is a secluded number, called Bottom Bay. It has cotton wool-white sand, tall palm trees and is framed by dramatic cliffs and sea grape trees. It makes for a great picnic spot, but it’s advised not to swim here.
Rum and racing
In the Caribbean it’s a given there’s going to be rum. The Four-Square Rum Distillery doesn’t just serve the regular tipple, it pours out award-winning rum. You can walk around the green sugar cane fields and see the rum-making process from start to finish and end the tour with a big swig of the renowned rum. Elsewhere, there’s a two-kilometre racetrack where famous drivers like Lewis Hamilton have tested their skills. You can try it out for yourself in a go-kart or race car.
