Dubai

February’s a great month to visit the Middle East. Its blue skies make a nice change from the gloomy ones back home and rain’s pretty much unheard of. Temps hover comfortably around the mid-twenties, so you can see the sights like the Burj Khalifa without breaking a sweat. There are plenty of family-friendly things to do here, too, we’re talking Yas Waterworld which has a free fall slide and tornado water-coaster. You’ll also find artificial ski slopes and ice skating if you fancy it. That’s not all, though – February also serves up the Dubai Food Festival. For the entire month street food stalls, pop-up cafés and exhibitions spring up all over the city. Look out for 10-dirham dish offers which let you tuck into delicious dishes for only 10 dirhams, which is less than £5!

Thailand

If you’re dreaming of faraway sun-kissed shores in February, Thailand is for you. You’ll find tropical beaches that look like they’ve been plucked from the pages of a travel mag, floating flower markets and delicious local dishes. February’s one of the best times of year to visit, thanks to average temps of 28°C and plenty of sunshine. Rain-wise, you might see some short showers, but they generally stop almost as quickly as they start. So, whether you’re spending the day at the beach, ticking off temples or exploring Bangkok, rain shouldn’t interfere with your plans.

The Canaries

Fancy a short flight to the sunshine? Look no further than the Canaries. This group of islands sit just off the coast of North Africa, so it’s a great place to go for some winter sun. Daytime temps hover around 22°C, so it’s warm enough to lounge by the pool or laze on the beach. The mercury tends to drop after sunset, so remember to bring a jumper for when you’re out and about after dark. Tenerife is a great shout if you want plenty of activities to keep the kids occupied, think banana boat rides and submarine safaris. While Lanzarote is a fab choice if you want to explore the space-like landscape. Fuerteventura has a huge range of family-friendly hotels to choose from and La Palma is a great choice for a quieter escape, thanks to its off-the-beaten-track hiking trails like the Volcano trail.

So, you can tick off everything from El Dahar market to ancient sights like the pyramids in comfortable conditions. A dip in the Red Sea is on the cards, too – water temperatures sit around 22°C in February. Top tip: make sure you pack a snorkel and take a peek at the coral reefs – they’re some of the best in the world.

Mexico

With average temperatures of 23°C, and highs of 29°C, Mexico’s a great setting for smug social media posts in February. But first things first, you need to pick a side. The Caribbean Coast blends the ancient Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza with the lively nightlife of Cancun. Things start to pick up here from late February until the end of March thanks to Spring Break, so if you’re not looking for a party, make tracks for laidback Riviera Maya instead. If you’re looking for a shoreline that majors in watersports, head to Puerto Vallarta on Mexico’s Pacific Coast.
