8 things you'll absolutely love about a Dolomites holiday

Showstopping scenery, flavour-filled food, and a whole host of things to see and do – you’ll find it all in the Dolomites.
This vast mountain range in the north-east of Italy is a real must-visit in summer. The views here are unique, with striking jagged peaks everywhere you look, and glacial lakes dotted between them. And the distinctive natural scenery is just one of many reasons you’ll love summer holidays in the Dolomites, as well the Brenta Dolomites – the adjoining mountain range just off to the west.

Check out all the reasons why this part of Italy should be on your travel list this summer, and where’s best to stay.

How to discover the Dolomites with TUI

Selva Val Gardena

With a laidback vibe and lots of family-run hotels and restaurants, Selva’s your typical Dolomites town, with incredible views wherever you turn. And you can really see the mix of cultures here too – there’s a big Ladin community and the town’s even got its own German name, Wolkenstein.

Madonna di Campiglio

Madonna’s got a more high-end feel, so you can spend days here people-watching outside cafés with a coffee or spritz, browsing boutiques and unwinding in thermal springs. And there’s plenty to explore outside town. Take lifts up to mountain huts and stroll through the national park, or visit local villages.

Molveno

Molveno’s an authentic lakeside village that serves up the winning combination of a glistening blue water backed by thick green forests and spiky mountains stretching into the sky just beyond. Like Madonna, it’s in the Brenta Dolomites, and there’s no shortage of wow-worthy views here, as well as a whole load of history to uncover.

Val di Fassa

Val di Fassa’s the perfect mix of natural beauty and local culture, and it’s easy to get around the valley by bus. The biggest villages here are Canazei and Campitello, where you’ll find plenty of authentic food to try as well as local craft shops. If you fancy a bit of pamper time, head just down the valley to Pozza di Fassa for its thermal hot springs and spas.
