Getting about

Buses

You can use bus line 101 to get between all the villages in Val di Fassa. There’s a regular service throughout the day, and as local bus travel is included in your Val di Fassa Guest Card, it won’t cost you a penny either.

Summer lifts

With 35 cable cars, gondolas and chairlifts dotted along the valley, getting those summit views couldn’t be simpler. You’ll even get a discount on lift tickets with your Val di Fassa Guest Card. You can also purchase a Panorama Pass and Dolomiti Supersummer card to enjoy unlimited travel on the lifts.

Trains

There's no train station in Val di Fassa itself, but you can take a 2-hour bus to Ora for trains to Bolzano and Verona in Italy and Innsbruck in Austria.

On foot

With their cobbled squares and wood-framed buildings, the villages in Val di Fassa are just the place for leisurely ambles – with a coffee stop or two of course. Or you could explore the network of walking paths and stroll between them. Try the 2km riverside trail that links Campitello and Canazei.

Val di Fassa puts its best foot forward when it comes to walking trails, with hundreds of kilometres of super scenic paths to explore. Summer lifts take the legwork out of scaling the summits, and there are plenty of mountain huts dotted around to keep you fuelled up as you go. So, if you’re ready to ramble, swing by the tourist office (every village has its own) and grab a guide book to find the best routes in the area – whether you’re after an easy 1-hour amble or an all-day outing, there’ll be a pick for you.

Canazei circuit

Starting next to the playground in Canazei, this 5.6km route follows the river out of the village, before taking a short loop through some woodland nearby. Benches and tables are dotted the whole way along and there’s even another playground halfway if you’re walking it with little ones.

Val Duron and the Fassa ridge

Flower-filled meadows, pine forests and airy summit views – this 13km route from Campitello has it all. Take the road signposted Passo Duron then follow gravel tracks up into Val Duron itself. At the head of the valley, you can call in at the Rifugio Duron mountain hut for a bite to eat before heading up onto the Fassa ridge. This is the steepest section, but the views of the rocky Sassolungo mountains make it worth every steep. From here, fill up your camera roll as you stroll along the ridge path to the Col Rodella Cable Car, which’ll take you back to Campitello in a matter of minutes.
