Val di Fassa, Italy

With its authentic alpine villages and dramatic Dolomite scenery, holidays to Val di Fassa mix outdoor adventure with laid-back local culture.

Alpine villages made for exploring

Picture-perfect Val di Fassa’s the kind of place that makes you want to get out and wander. Seven villages are scattered along the valley, and wherever you stay you can look forward to front-row views of pine forests and rocky peaks. Base yourself in either Canazei or Campitello for easy access to summer lifts, hiking trails and relaxed restaurants. Or pick Pozza di Fassa, where you can wind down in thermal spas after a hike or bike ride.

Get out into the Dolomites

From scenic valley walks to more challenging high-altitude hikes, there’s a huge network of trails right on your doorstep here. The UNESCO-listed Dolomites deliver on every level – think rugged peaks, colourful wildflower meadows and panoramic viewpoints that feel straight out of a film. Stroll or cycle between villages or jump on a cable car for ridge walks, next-level views and mountain hut lunches. A family-friendly cycle path winds the length of the valley, or take the Col Rodella cable car for half- or full-day hikes with the mighty Sassolungo mountains as your backdrop. And don't miss getting the lift up to the Sass Pordoi plateau to snap pics of more peaks than you can count.

Local culture and mountain food

There’s a strong sense of tradition here, shaped by Ladin heritage that’s still very much alive today. You’ll notice it in the crafts and souvenirs you can pick up in the villages, the different languages you'll see on signs and hear locals speaking, as well as in the food. Expect a mix of Italian classics and hearty alpine dishes – pasta and polenta dishes share menu space with faves like dumplings, stews and strudel. And if you’re curious to dig deeper into local culture, the Ladin Museum in Pozza di Fassa gives you a glimpse into the region’s story, from Neolithic times to now.

There won’t be a rep based in your resort, but a rep will meet you at the airport when you arrive and get you on your way. If you’ve got any questions during your holiday, you can call our 24/7 TUI Service Centre at any time.
