Best quiet beaches in the world

Dreaming of a sunny escape away from the crowds? We’ve got you covered.
From Laurito Beach in Italy to Aghia Marina Beach in Greece, we’ve lined up some of the world’s quietest beaches you need to hear about before you book your next relaxing getaway. Heard of Eagle Beach in Aruba? Or Bavaro Beach in the Dominican Republic? These popular spots certainly live up to their hype, but they can get busy. So, if you’d rather dodge the crowds, check out our list of peaceful alternatives to some of the world’s best beaches. Trust us, they’re just as impressive, but won’t be so crowded.

Then, take a look at our summer deals and find out for yourself…

Italy

Popular beach – Spiaggia dei Conigli
Quieter alternative – Laurito beach

Are you tired of waking up and not being in Italy? Us, too. Well, if you’re planning a summer escape and looking for the ultimate sunbathing spot, reviews will point you towards Spiaggia dei Conigli in Lampedusa. If you’d rather a more secluded cove, Laurito beach in Positano – a small town along the Amalfi Coast – should make it to your next-to-visit list. It’s a surprisingly uncrowded pebble number, dotted with sunloungers. Insider tip: hop on the shuttle boat from Positano's main pier to avoid the steep climb down.

Aruba

Popular beach – Eagle Beach
Quieter alternative – Druif Beach

If you’re really looking to escape the crowds, Druif Beach – located just south of Eagle Beach – is one of Aruba’s hidden gems. It’s known for its soft-white sand and calm waters, so you’re sorted for cooling dips in the ocean. And thanks to palm trees, there are shaded spots for a quick break from the sun, so it’s perfect for families with little ones.

Cape Verde

Popular beach – Praia de Santa Maria
Quieter alternative – Santa Monica Beach

If you’re looking to escape in the winter but don’t want to go too far, try Boa Vista – it’s temperatures often top 25°C, even during its coolest months. If sunbathing sessions are your order of the day, head to Santa Monica Beach – one of the most beautiful beaches across Cape Verde. We’ll admit that it’s still a popular option, but with over 11 kilometres of soft white sand to lounge on, it’s easy to find your own private spot.

Dominican Republic

Popular beach – Bavaro Beach
Quieter alternative – Playa Esmeralda

Swap the busyness of Bavaro for the laidback town of Miches on the north-east coast of the island. Here, you’ll see another side of the Dominican Republic and find picture-perfect natural reserves edging towards stretches of untouched sands. Our peaceful pick? Playa Esmeralda – a five-kilometre curved bay, lined with coconut palm trees.

Greece

Popular beach – Elafonissi beach
Quieter alternative – Aghia Marina

The gorgeous pink sand of Elafonissi is well worth a trip if you’re in the area, but if you’re looking for a beachbase right in the centre of things, Aghia Marina Beach is the place for you. You can break up your tanning time with souvenir shopping or take to the water on a snorkelling or jet-ski adventure. Plus, with traditional tavernas dotted along the coast, you can have your lunch served with panoramic sea views.
