This All Inclusive hotel is right on the beach and tucked into a snorkel-friendly cove. The area’s really rich with wildlife, and there are walking trails around the hotel where you can see lizards, monkeys and tropical birds.

Facilities-wise, everything’s on a grand scale at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort and Spa – from the three swimming pools and lazy river to the line-up of 10 restaurants and 10 bars. The hotel’s home to one of the biggest spas in the region, and even the rooms pull out all the stops for a special stay. They’re junior suites as standard, and every one of them comes with a whirlpool bath next to the bed.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya

This adults-only hotel lines up nine restaurants specialising in everything from authentic Mexican to French and Italian cuisines, so it’s understandably popular with foodies. Plus, after-dinner entertainment looks like fire-lit beach parties, themed evenings and low-key music in the lounge bar, and there’s a theatre with live acts.

As for location, it’s right next to a white-sand beach that’s a popular hangout for sea turtles, and it lays claim to the world's second-biggest barrier reef, which is about 150 metres offshore. Factor in highlights like an ocean-facing infinity pool and Bali beds that come with a concierge service if you pay extra, and this place has A-list written all over it.

Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa

If you’re planning a family trip to Mexico, Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa should be on your radar. This hotel hits the perfect balance between family time and grown-up time, with a hotel-run kids’ club and colourful waterpark paired with a long list of pampering treatments at the spa*.

The hotel itself is seriously impressive – inside it’s all towering ceilings and marble floors, while the outdoor pool areas are dotted with thatched umbrellas and palms and the whole thing looks out over a long strip of bright-white beach.
