Never Visit Again
My boyfriend and I visited this hotel for a wedding. We have had the reservations reserved for 11 months in advance. The front desk did not put everyone near each other, from the wedding party, like we requested. Our room was on the first floor near the loading dock and at 7am on Saturday the staff was outside our room drilling and hammering. The view from our room was a lovely wall that separated our hotel from the hotel next door. *remember we booked almost a year in advance for a view. Our toilet, which was eco friendly toilet, clogged EVERY SINGLE TIME, anyone used it. We had to call the front at all hours to unclog it which was embarrassing and they would not leave a plunger like requested. One of the sinks didn’t drain in the bathroom at all. Last big issue was the laundry service. My boyfriend and I have been traveling for about a week before and we’re only staying at this hotel for three days. On the first day we got laundry service because it can take up to 48 hours to get back, according to the front desk. The front desk also said it must be in before 9 am. (This was the lady from the night before when we checked in that told us that). The next morning we called FOUR TIMES, waiting ten to fifteen minutes between each call to have someone come get our laundry before 9am. We woke up at 730 to get our laundry taken and the front desk kept brushing off our request. Finally my boyfriend called the fourth time and said he wanted someone to pick up our laundry right now and then they came. Other than our bad experiences, the food was great and the bartenders at the pool bar were very friendly!More
Step it up
Common areas and restaurants/bars are great! Food was exceptable...service levels by friendly staff high. Guest rooms are of concern. 12 out of the 17 rooms our group rented had issues primarily involving water running through walls, ceilings and light fixtures. Our room was highly sented with moth cakes shoved into the A/C vents to cover up moisture issues. Our bags, clothes and other personal items stunk the entire time we were there and upon return. Unfortunately, I'd never return having vacationed in at least a dozen other facilities throughout Mexico.More
Nice Hotel, Great staff
We stayed at this hotel for 4 days last week. The hotel was nice, and the staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the food and drinks. Their specialty restaurants were very good. This hotel always had some games or music going, so if you are looking for a place to just relax, this probably isn't the place for you. The only real issue we had with this hotel is they would close their nice restaurants to the hotel guests for the whole evening if a wedding party reserved them. They also don't give you an advanced notice this was happening, so you might be out of luck if you wait to go to one of the nicer restaurants at the end of your trip. Overall I would recommend this hotel.More

The staff is beyond friendly. it was the perfect vacation. The pool area was very nice and large the beach was in the perfect spot no rocks or seaweed. Best Location in Mexico!
Just returned from a week vacation in Mexico. What a lovely experience it was. This hotel is located in Playa Del Carmen and has by far the best area in Mexico I have visited. Especially where this is located, in Playa Car immediate area(which is a big gated area. I walked down the street, into downtown, at all hours of the day and night. I saw women walking alone in the middle of the night, tourist families, and never felt any sort of danger. I would say the same is true for the whole Playa Del Carmen area. We visited all the Rui's in the area, as you have access to them all as a Palace customer. This Riu has a Spanish Mexican Decor which was really awesome. This is our 4th Riu and have stayed at the modern ones before, this was the most enjoyed from the standpoint. Also because it is a Place and not the modern type, we noticed the crowd here was top notch. Not so party rambunctious compared to some of the others in the area. Very high quality here all around. Check in was very easy and quick. Didn't see a line up ever almost. People working here are soooo nice! Rafa is a great server, a fantastic joy to be around but so many great employees. Hotel room:Typical rooms for the RIu's and we got the upgraded room for the view, which was very worth it. It was a slight ocean view but the courtyard is fantastic to look at. Hotel grounds:Perfect, clean, looks great, palm trees all through the place. Never seen so many palm trees in one location. Beach:One of the best beaches I've ever been on. So wide, so long, so soft, stays cool. Better than Cancun beach somehow. Amazing! Tons of loungers. Palm trees everywhere!! Food:Is fantastic! 5 specialty restaurants and you do not need to make reservations, you can go as much as you want. The food is great!!! Everything is wonderful. Drinks:Top notch drinks, premium liquors. Ocean is clean and beautiful! 24/7 room service. You can walk in Playa Del Carmen downtown in 5-10 minutes. Fantastic location! You will not be disappointed, I promise! Anymore questions let me know! Matthew & LiraMore
