Beach base

Costa Mujeres is set on a wafer-thin peninsula, called Isla Blanca, which stretches upwards from better-known Cancun. The resort’s a pretty new addition to Mexico’s holiday scene, and is mostly made up of XL hotels in beachfront plots. Almost every property on this stretch of shoreline has been built in the last few years, so modern facilities are par for the course. When it comes to beach bathing, there’s a belt of margarine-coloured sand that’s strung along the entire shoreline.
