Can I use my European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) abroad?
The UK GHIC has replaced the existing European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). If you still have a valid EHIC you can continue to use it until its expiry date. Once it expires, you'll need to apply for a UK GHIC.
For more information on using your card abroad please visit Applying for healthcare cover abroad (GHIC and EHIC) - NHS.
Please note, the UK GHIC is not a replacement for travel insurance.
