Are Marella Cruise excursions suitable for less-mobile passengers and wheelchair users?
Shore excursions with mobility aids
We want you to enjoy shore excursions that work for you. Here's what you need to know about travelling with a wheelchair or scooter.
Standard shore excursions
You can join most excursions if you can manage bus steps independently. If you use a collapsible wheelchair or scooter, you'll need to travel with a companion who can help lift and store it on and off the bus. Our drivers, guides and team members aren't able to assist with lifting for health and safety reasons.
Some excursions use minibuses, small motorised vehicles, trains or boats where space is limited. In these cases, it might not be possible to bring your mobility aid.
Accessible shore excursions
We offer specially adapted excursions in selected ports. These use vehicles with ramps or lifts, subject to availability. Call our dedicated accessibility team on 0800 145 6920 to discuss your options and book.
Important information about disembarking
Weather conditions, sea levels, port distance and local circumstances can sometimes affect whether passengers with mobility aids can leave the ship. These factors are outside our control, but we'll always keep you informed.
Choosing your excursion
Book excursions before you travel through the Marella Cruise Control website. Each excursion shows an activity level to help you choose:
- Easy: Gentle pace with minimal walking on flat ground
- Moderate: Some uphill walking, steps and uneven surfaces
- Active: Longer distances or challenging terrain with steps
- Energetic: Sustained activity on steep paths - high fitness needed
- Challenging: Intensive activity on rugged terrain - very high fitness essential
Check the 'Good to Know' section for each excursion. This tells you about walking distances and wheelchair accessibility.
