Our family breaks to San Sebastian whisk you away to the capital city of the island of La Gomera.
Hotels with a view
We’ve cherry-picked the best hotels in San Sebastian for your perusal. Location-wise, many of them set up shop high above San Sebastian harbour, where you get widescreen panoramas of the Atlantic Ocean. Swimming pools, dining terraces and flowering gardens usually creep up right to the cliff edge.
A bijou capital city
Grab a map, and you’ll see that San Sebastian is barely a couple of miles across. It’s extremely walkable, with the colourful houses and churches of the old town decorating one street. The park is also worth seeing. The oldest building in the city crowns the green — the Torre de Conde tower.
Daytrips around La Gomera
La Gomera is a jigsaw of lush valleys, volcanic mountains, black-sand beaches and microscopic villages. It’s all best seen on a guided tour — that’s by bike, coach or 4x4. If you want to set out to sea, hop on a whale-watching trip or jump on the ferry to Tenerife. The 40-minute voyage will give you a great view of Mount Teide, the highest mountain in Spain.
