Holidays to San Sebastian take you to La Gomera's capital, where the streets are dotted with ancient buildings and beautiful beaches sweep across your doorstep.
Often overshadowed by the larger Canary Islands, La Gomera has remained tranquil and unspoilt. And its capital, San Sebastian, is no different. Just a short ferry ride from Tenerife, this peaceful port specialises in traditional architecture, quiet beaches and ancient buildings.
San Sebastian is home to a pair of volcanic beaches, typical of the Canaries. Families will love Playa de San Sebastian, which has a play area for little adventurers. Or you can spend a day by the sea at Playa de la Cueva. Lay your towel down on the black sand and look out across the ocean towards Tenerife.
San Sebastian’s streets are steeped in La Gomera's history. Must-see sights include the ancient Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and the perfectly preserved Torre del Conde, the oldest military fortress in the Canaries. You can also explore Casa de Colón and Casa de la Aguada, which Christopher Columbus supposedly visited on his way to America.
