Puerto de Soller holidays
Luxury Balearic retreats and authentic Majorcan experiences go hand-in-hand on Puerto de Soller holidays. This spot sits in a picturesque horseshoe bay on Majorca’s north-west coast, and with the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains as its backdrop, it’s ideal for a peaceful coastal escape.
A picturesque Balearic gem
With its position on a horseshoe-shaped bay at the foot of the UNESCO-stamped Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range, its proximity to the citrus groves of Sóller Valley and its traditional whitewashed buildings, Puerto de Soller is as photogenic as they come. The scenic waterfront promenade lines up loads of dining options, and a historic vintage tram lets you sightsee in style. You’re also within easy daytripping distance of equally pretty Sóller Town and the island’s capital, Palma.
Es Traves and Ca’n Repic beaches
A duo of small, sandy beaches sit at either end of Puerto de Soller’s bay – Es Traves and Ca’n Repic. The former is the biggest of them both, and tends to be the busiest. It comes with pedalos, and shows off top-notch snorkelling and diving spots plus great views of the boat-peppered port. If you’d rather just lounge around, you can hire sunbeds and parasols here, too. The other beach is a quieter option, complete with calm, twinkling water and more port views.
Journeys on the Orange Express
If you fancy paying Palma a visit, the most scenic way to get there is on the Orange Express – a 1912 vintage tram with mahogany and brass carriages. The journey time’s about an hour and a half through the Tramuntana Mountains. When you arrive, you’ll see the capital’s skyline is dominated by the mammoth Majorca Cathedral, while it’s just a 10-minute drive to the 14th-century hillside Bellver Castle. Palma city daytrips are about more than just the views, though – the chatty flower sellers along La Rambla are famous, as are the fashion boutiques in the La Llonj district.
