Best time to go to Slovenia

Slovenia’s weather is typical of continental Europe, with a mix of cold and warm spells throughout the year. Around spring, the days are pleasant and nights are cool but there’s a higher chance of rain. Moving into the summer period, most of the day is dry with temperatures on average reaching 20-25°C. However, being close to the mountains means that heavy thunderstorms can occur towards the end of the day. A warm jumper will probably be needed in the evenings or for mountain hiking, even in the summer. Autumn gets a little chilly and wet, with a foggy mist rolling in every now and then.

Passports & Visas

Health & Safety

You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. Also, if you’re travelling to the EU and you apply for a card now, you'll get a new UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) instead of an EHIC. This entitles you to emergency medical treatment on the same terms as Slovenian nationals. It won’t, however, cover you for medical repatriation, ongoing medical treatment or non-urgent treatment.
